What a fun story. A couple that decided to make their home dishes in a restaurant. Nice mom and pop place. Clean, great service and a charming server.
Had the jägerschnitzel, sauer kraut and red cabbage. Finished it off by splitting a banana pudding and an apple pie. Oh my.
Jägerschnitzel was extra crispy, the pork was cooked to perfection and the sauce wasn’t what I’ve typically had before, but it was very nice. Overall a 9 out of 10.
The sauerkraut had almost all the flavors that I’ve come to expect from a good German traditional dish. I would put it about an 8.5.
The red cabbage. Wow, ok. The flavor profile isn’t what I would typically expect, but it had a deeply pungent flavor that was nice. Seemed perhaps the cabbage may have been a bit overcooked. 7.5 for that.
Tried the Spätzle and it was spot on. Only had a couple bites from my friend, but I’d give it a 9 also.
The lady that waited on us, knew the foods, was very fun to talk to, had a great attitude and is someone who earned my trust when ordering. Very honest demeanor. Top marks for Shi, the young lady’s name.
Banana pudding, didn’t have bananas, but it was ok, which our server told us about. Maybe a 7.5. probably would be an 8.5+ if it had the banana in it. And then the apple pie. Nice and warm, flaky, apple tart and sweet. Well executed and a great serving. Give that a 9.
Great experience all around and Shi made it an evening to remember.

We had breakfast here this morning on the recommendation of my mom. She said the pancakes remind her of The Kettle.
We ordered two pancake stacks and a hash brown casserole. The orders came out exactly as we ordered them, the casserole was cheesy and delightful, and the pancakes still taste like a different time.
Our waitress was kind, attentive, and had a great rapport with one of her regulars. She also handled a pickup order and a DoorDash order. Service was important to me because several of the reviews mention less than great service, but that was not our experience.
The photo I’ve included is a painting on the front window. It’s a welcome sign from the owners, Andy and Betina. I’ve also included a sticker used to close up the silverware packets.

Got delivery and got the Benny. Eggs were overcooked and not runny at all. Hardly any hollandaise came with it. A great eggs Benedict would have runny poached eggs and enough hollandaise so the English muffin isn’t dry.

My husband took me out to eat here for Valentine’s day. It was my 1st time here. Loved it. Prices are decent to you not as expensive as I thought it would be. We will be back. Afterwards we walked next door and got to shop at Mercantile’s where they sell consignment stuff and I loved everything and found the perfect chicken earrings oh and they also have Bulldog stuff. And the store smelled great. Can’t wait to do this again. Oh and I think next time somebody has a birthday getting them a gift card for Herb and Ernie’s would be a great idea!!

I love this place! It’s a hidden gem in Copperas Cove. We had breakfast. It didn’t show up as a recommendation, but the hash brown casserole was excellent. The decor was stop cool and nostalgic. They even had a little gift shop with a little bit of everything. We will come back again when we visit our friends.

It was our first time at Herb and Ernie’s Diner, and we really enjoyed it! I’m super picky about cleanliness, and the place was immaculate, seriously one of the cleanest diners I’ve ever been in. I had the Jäger Schnitzel with red cabbage and cucumber salad, and everything was delicious. The schnitzel was cooked perfectly, the gravy was flavorful, and the sides were fresh. The owner is a former public school educator and makes it easy to be able to support their small business. Great experience overall, this will be a new staple for our family!

This a great small business in the copperas cove area! It was such a treat to dine here. Food was like home. My daughter ate it so no complaints from me. I was most excited about the atmosphere and how cute it was inside and out. And the shop right next door was such a treat to explore after we finished eating. I usually don’t give ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but we were celebrating my exchange daughters birthday , and she is German . So, I figured we’d give her a piece of home and bring her here. 1. We came in an hour before they closed. 2. There were 8 of us, and we were the only ones there. 3. We all ordered different items, except Mom and Polly, they ordered the same. 4. Everything came out in a decent time, it was fresh, and everyone’s order was made right! 5. Our waiter was on point, kept checking on us, kept our drinks filled, and everyone enjoyed their food ! This was a nice experience, and she has a really cute boutique in the restaurant and we will definitely return! P.S. The bathrooms were so clean

The food is decent but it is very expensive. This side order of hash browns is 5 dollars and its maybe half of a potato. Same for the side of fruit. Its 5 dollars for maybe a half of a sliced up banana and a sliced up strawberry or two
