Every time I come in, it feels like home. The hot chocolate is rich, the cinnamon muffin changed my taste buds’ perspective on life, and I am always trying something new and delicious and filling. Be sure to ask them what the special is for the day because some of the best kept secrets are beyond the menu!

Genuinely one of the best places to eat in Denton! Spice levels are just right and they have a great rotating selection of different regional dishes — the specials board will never do you wrong! I recommend Ginger Limeade and a Beignet for an afternoon treat and an Egusi stew for lunch! Great choice for catering as well, and they have vegan options – just ask. Shoutout to Alex and Cam for making us feel so welcome!

A true hidden gem! The food here is absolutely incredible, and it’s a mystery why this spacious and comfortable spot isn’t packed on weekends. While it’s not cheap, it’s definitely worth the price for the quality and quantity you get. Try 1 Egusi (easy for 2 people).
Really tasty African food

I love Hera’s! The menu has a good variety so I can always find something I’m in the mood for, and everything I have tried has been amazing. The food is very flavorful, and the portions are great for the price! The owner is also very friendly and maintains a welcoming atmosphere. It’s by far one of the best places to eat in Denton!

The service, food, and interior here are amazing! Auntie is very engaging and kind to every customer. The food is always warm and delicious. There are not many Afro Fusion sites in Denton, but TWU has the best!

I got the chicken egusi. It was my first time trying egusi, so I admit it may just not have been for me. It tasted extremely gamey, not at all like chicken, and very very oil-rich, which sat heavily on my stomach. Maybe they cook the chicken egusi and the assorted meats egusi in the same pot? It took about 25 – 35 min for my order to come out, so it may be made fresh rather than pre-made. I ate about 10 bites (it was expensive and I thought it would grow on me) and had to freeze it to save for later for my s/o in case they would like it so it doesn’t go to waste. I know egusi goes bad quickly. However, I did notice a lot of people ordering wings from this place while I waited for my order. I intend to come back and try them because I have every confidence that their wings are something I would love!! For the price I paid, the portion size of egusi and the meats and seasonings were definitely substantial.

I’ve been walking to Hera’s Kitchen as long as it’s been open. Hera’s has always been friendly and supportive, and their food has felt just as warm. I always try their new specials, which always leave me with more to eat later. I’ve never felt more valued at a valuable price for valuable food.
