Walking into Henri’s, you’ll be greeted by the owner, Pierre and his staff, who will treat you like guests in our own home. Henri’s combines an inspired menu with a casually sophisticated setting in a heritage house conveniently situated on Somerset West Main Road. We also welcome larger groups, our top floor has been renovated and can be used for private functions. Our menu can be described as comfort food with a modern global influence. We are well known for our aged grass-fed beef as well as the freshest local seafood. Alongside our à la carte menu, we offer a light lunch menu during the day and also have a kiddies menu. We also serve homemade, thin based pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven.

Was baie lekker. Peeps greet you and make you feel welcome . Took our own wine, the wine was excellent – even got an ice bucket for the rosé. The food was perfect – and atmosphere great , waitress was ook baie nice. That chocklate mouse we got with chocklate icecream was lovely.

This place is special. We were visiting from out of town and found Henri’s after everything else closed early. We were blown away by the positive energy of the staff the warm welcome from the owner and the consistent delicious food. We came back three additional times because the staff made us feel like family. Highly recommend to seared salmon and mushroom risotto as a few of ur favorites.

Hidden away at a busy intersection – Henri’s is a must when visiting SWest. I loved it so much, we returned for a 2nd meal during our stay. Lunch outside on the veranda in hot weather on both occasions, and a consistent great experience. Lamb burger (juicy, flavoursome and well cooked) and duck salad (balanced and light) 1st time, grilled chicken thighs with couscous (so tasty) and classic fish ‘n chips 2nd time. Fabulous wine list, and knowledgeable and attentive service from our waiter. Will definitely return when I visit SWest again.

Over the past holiday I struggled to find Cape salmon, which I am quite passionate about. Of all the Cape salmon dishes I’ve had over the years, this was by far the most deliciously prepared. The grilled salmon was outstanding, and the quality of the food truly stood out. The service was excellent, and I really enjoyed visiting this restaurant.

Incredibly disappointed that I have to update my review on Henri’s. Had the most appalling and rude service from our waitress. The name was Shez on the bill.
We asked about the price of the eisbein which was not on the menu. She literally huffed, rolled her eyes, put her hands up and blurted – I’ll go check. It was the rudest and most disgusting reaction to a simple question I’ve ever experienced – and at such a fine establishment! I also, unfortunately, feel there was a racial component as we were the only people of colour there and although the waitress was too she obviously did not think we had the money or the right skin colour to be there.
It took ages for our order to be taken and we waited an hour for our food. My parents were visiting and I wanted them to have a lovely lunch with my fiancé and I before they left today. But it was ruined by this staff member. She also spoke incredibly loudly. You could hear her at the other tables in another room which was also off putting. She made comments that I think she thought were charming but weren’t. The food was lovely but I left with a bitter taste in my mouth.
I would not be surprised if other people had this experience and just decided not to go again and not say anything. And although I wanted to say something while there I was convinced by those at the table to just let it go and enjoy the day. But I decided to update my review because it is not acceptable to be treated in such a way when you are a paying customer.
My parents still insisted on tipping and even said they would come back because of the food. However, I will not be back again. And I will not recommend Henri’s because of this experience. There are many fine restaurants in the area WITH excellent service to go to.
