Green Sea Shells Mag: Wellness by KK
We stopped by Hennessey’s in downtown Manhattan Beach for a casual breakfast and really enjoyed the relaxed, neighborhood feel. The outdoor patio is spacious and great for people-watching—we sat at a high table and took in the view of people walking their dogs, heading to the beach, or grabbing coffee. It’s in such a prime spot, and the vibe was easygoing and welcoming.

The service was lovely—our server was friendly, helpful, and happy to accommodate my request to modify the avocado toast (removing bacon and egg). The toast came with potatoes and worked for a light bite, though I would’ve loved a bit more seasoning. My husband had the spinach omelet with coffee, and I got a fresh-squeezed half-orange, half-grapefruit juice that was refreshing.

They also host live music in the weekend and Monday night trivia, which I imagine brings a fun crowd in the evenings. It seems like a true local favorite. We found parking easily across the street since it was early.

If you’re in the area, it’s a nice stop to sit back, enjoy the scene, and take in the downtown energy.

Food:

Hennessey’s Tavern is known for its hearty, flavorful dishes that cater to a variety of tastes. The menu features a mix of classic American comfort food, fresh seafood, and Irish-inspired pub fare. Some standout items include:

Fish and Chips: A crowd favorite, featuring crispy beer-battered fish served with golden fries and tartar sauce.
Hennessey’s Burger: A juicy, perfectly cooked burger with all the fixings, served with a side of fries or a salad.
Shepherd’s Pie: A comforting dish with seasoned ground beef, vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes baked to perfection.
Seafood Tacos: Fresh and flavorful, these tacos are a great option for those looking for something lighter.
Nachos: Perfect for sharing, these are loaded with toppings and always a hit.
The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is consistently high. Whether you’re craving something indulgent or a lighter meal, Hennessey’s has you covered.

This was a really cool tavern! The ambiance was great, the employees were really cool (they had to work short-handed due to another private party upstairs). And the food was terrific! We were just walking the area (love Manhattan Beach Pier) and decided to hit this spot up for a drink. Ended up eating Buffalo wings and fish-n-chips with our drinks. Will be returning and this is a definite thumbs up! Recommended.

Hennessey’s was a great place to meet friends and enjoy a game. They have large tables and can handle a crowd. The servers were busy and a bit curt, but they did fine. The burgers (Cowboy, Friscos, American) were all very good. Our party tried a number of entrees and no one was disappointed. The business district around the restaurant is busy, especially on the weekend, so be thoughtful with parking. We got lucky and found parking quickly. Overall, we would return to Hennessey’s without hesitation.

What is going on in this world? I mean, you go to a beautiful spot and you get horrible service. The waitress with the scar on top of her head was incredibly rude. I kept it all together, but I gave her a zero tip because you can’t be such an angry person working with the public. The burger was okay. The fries were kind of soggy. I don’t think I’ll be going back there for any food, especially for a seven-dollar burger that tastes like a two-dollar burger.

We went for a few drinks and burgers. They were super delicious and satisfying. The drink I had, sth with Lemon and vodka I didn’t care too much, nothing special. The atmosphere was friendly and calm, and the lady who served us was very polite and kind. We liked her service!

I loved eating here! This was my second time here. The first time we had lunch, and it was delicious. (We had the burgers and fries). This time I came for breakfast. Our server, Serenity, even remembered our names! She is amazing, and made us feel right at home. The manager Steve was also very kind. I highly recommend the Captain Crunch French toast. You won’t be disappointed!

Decided to stop in for a bite while wandering around. Got the Irish Nachos and added Chalula & ketchup on top (don’t judge). They were pretty tasty, thick layer of hot melted cheese on top with fresh toppings and thinly slices potatoes. Would definitely have them again, although they don’t replace traditional nachos. The doorman wasn’t so friendly but thankfully our waitress was awesome, very sweet. Thankfully they had good size outdoor seating, I love sitting outside, restroom inside. You can park along the street, didn’t see parking lot.

It didn’t take us long to be seated but know my server was new and her service needs work. The food was decent, I didn’t order much but the pretzels bites appetizer, and the chicken pesto sandwich. We did ask for the heater to be cut on and I guess it was an issue. We were told they couldn’t do it because of the umbrellas but it was sunset. I’m not sure what our server asked but I think someone did it when they felt it was time. They finally cut them on but we already paid and was leaving.
