Sits inside the Mekong market. We got the Chongqing chicken with a side of white rice and the spicy beef noodle soup. Both fantastic. I will say there was only two pieces of beef in the soup, which was a bit disappointing. Flavor wise everything was spot on makes me miss Chinatown back home. Its a seat yourself style eatery.

A Hidden Gem for Authentic Shanghainese Cuisine in Mekong Plaza

If you’re craving authentic Chinese food from the Shanghai/Zhejiang region, this unassuming spot in Mekong Plaza’s food court is a must-try. Drawn in by a photo of “Pickled Vegetable Fried with Green Bean and Bean Curd Skin”—a nostalgic, seasonal dish familiar to anyone from Shanghai, Hangzhou, or Zhejiang—my expectations were high, and the meal did not disappoint!

The stall is run by a warm Shanghainese couple, and their menu reflects homestyle coastal flavors. We ordered three dishes:

Pickled Vegetable with Green Bean and Bean Curd Skin: Just like my dad’s cooking—simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced.

Braised Pork Feet: A classic Shanghainese rendition, tender with that signature sweet-salty glaze (note: may surprise those accustomed to Northern savory versions, but it’s spot-on for the region).

Spicy Fish: A milder, approachable take—great for those who want flavor without Sichuan-level heat.

The food court itself is clean, and the wife (who handles orders and service) is incredibly kind. Portions are generous for the price, making this a fantastic value. If you’re longing for authentic mid-coastal Chinese food, don’t hesitate—this place is a little taste of home.

Pretty chill spot for lunch.

Stopped in to try their lunch special. Ordered orange chicken with white rice and a spring roll for $10, about. Happy with my order. The portion was good for the price. I think I will order fried rice next time, if possible.

I took off two stars because on the menu the lunch special said that you get a soup and the option of fried rice. But when I asked the lady looked at me like I was smoking

Hope you enjoy it!

Heng’s Kitchen is a marvelous little eatery that serves up some seriously delicious authentic Chinese cuisine. Tucked away in the corner of the food court of Mekong Plaza, it’s easy to walk right past it without knowing it’s there. But the (assuming) husband and wife team do a phenomenal job cranking out tasty dishes at a pace that is shocking considering it’s just the two of them.

I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Their pork ear and beef tendon are among our favorites, and I think their spicy beef noodle soup is one of the best I’ve ever had

I give it a 5 stars as the food was so good, plus, they have the menu on the display with the picture of the food, as well. I prefer to know how the food looks before I place an order and this was perfect. I ordered for to go and the wait time was about 10 minutes. I decided on the soups , I took a Stew Beef Noodle/Rice Noodle Soup, number 2 on the menu, as well as Braised Pork Noodle Soup. Yummy! It was enough for two people for two days, as the portions were big.
It is located inside the Mekong Plaza, kinda like in the food court. I haven’t been there in a while and I was pleasantly surprised.

Heng’s Kitchen is conveniently located in the Mekong Plaza. I tried the beef noodle stew (non spicy version) and it was wonderful! The broth had so much flavor. The beef cuts were lean and large. I left my bowl spotless!

I will be returning to this restaurant in the future. Highly recommend! 5/5 stars!

Went here twice. I ordered beef noodle soup the first time and the chowmien noodles with egg rolls the second time. I love the noodle dishes but the egg rolls are a bit underwhelming for its price (having eaten so many egg rolls my whole life).

The food was good and we appreciated the selection. Since it was a late lunch for us we kept it simple. The black bean noodles were different from the poster picture (it was actually more like Korean jajangmyeon) but it tasted good. We also liked the spicy tripe and the pot stickers.

EDIT: I have been back multiple times, and this place has never let me down! Their fried spicy chicken is amazing! The general tso’s is amazing too. Ive also had their stir fried beef and guess what, amazing!

This place is pretty cool. It is located inside mekong Plaza, without an entrance from outside. Very authentic feel, and they give you decent chopsticks. I had the stir fried beef and it was excellent! Nice and spicy. Not bad for price either, but it would be cool if entrees came with white rice. Food came out fast and hot.

Wow. I figured it wouldn’t be #1 Wok quality, being in the Mekong Market mall. It was worse. Rubbery meat that they tried to tenderize like your typical fake Chinese restaurant, but just look at that supposed kung pao chicken. It tasted as bad as it looked. Literally the only taste was salt. Even the onions didn’t have taste. They just threw peanuts on top. How could they serve that? I returned that dish. Then the kids couldn’t even bite through the beef. Beef with broccoli is lame and fake, but it’s hard to screw up. I left it all on the table for them to see. No more Mekong restaurants for us. Even the rice was bad. SMH. Just eat at home. Place is going downhill fast!
