Tried Heng Thai recently and I’m SO impressed, especially as a vegan. They have a dedicated vegan menu with tons of options, and it made ordering so easy (no stress, no guessing). Everything we tried was super flavorful, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Portions were great and the food felt comforting but still really high quality. Service was friendly and quick too.
If you’re vegan (or even just love Thai food), this place is a must-try. Can’t wait to go back and try more from the vegan menu!

This is hands down awesome! If you’re in the RISD or Brown university area on Thayer, hunt down this place as it won’t fail you!
Delicious food, great drinks and fast service! We’ve been here a couple of times and it’s absolutely a favorite by my daughter and her friends … and now ours!
Casual and you can bring another group too. But prepare to wait during peak hours.

I had a duck noodle and it was SO AMAZING. My waitress was so sweet, amazing staff and atmosphere. Music was great. Thai tea was lovely. All in all, if you’re looking for some good food around Brown, come here!

The food here is PHENOMENAL. I am so impressed with everything we ordered. The crab Rangoon rolls are light and crispy. The spring rolls are also light and fresh and crispy. The sauce they serve with these is delicious and pairs so well. We ordered the Panama curry with chicken, the crispy pad Thai and the rotisserie chicken with papaya salad. I can’t get over the explosion of flavors and how comforting everything tasted. The curry had fresh notes of lemon grass. The crispy pad Thai was so unique and fresh as well. Not heavy on the fish sauce which makes it so enjoyable. The rotisserie chicken is easily one of the best meals I have ever had. Everything is fresh and the taste is amplified because of it. I highly recommend eating here. The only 4 star I give for atmosphere is because the ceiling sweats and I did get some moisture that fell on my arm. I absolutely will be back.

Great service, the soy chicken noodle was great value (look at the size of that!) and tasted good too. The drunken noodles were seasoned well.

I ordered chicken satay on DoorDash delivery. Texture was off so I ripped it open to look closer. See attached picture. I better not get sick. I’m livid that I now have to wait to see if this will make me sick. Couldn’t even eat the other dish because it was far spicier than was edible. Was the kitchen staff just in a rush to end the night and couldn’t be bothered?

The place is nice, quiet, and the lighting was pleasantly dim. The service was great for takeout. I had the rotisserie meal with papaya salad. While the food was sort of delicious, the cook on the chicken was not great. I wonder if the chicken was cooked earlier in the week due to the rubbery texture of it. The chicken was tough and discolored but not dry which is what indicated to me that the cook on it was probably lovely when it was first made but that wasn’t when I received it. Unfortunately I paid about $21 for a small portion of steamed rice, papaya salad, and days old roast chicken. I had also mentioned that I don’t eat nuts when I ordered (food intolerance not a severe allergy). Had I been severely allergic, I’d have gone into anaphalactic shock on opening the papaya salad. I don’t think I’ll come back. I wanted to give less stars but I averaged them out based on food, service, and atmosphere. The sister restaurant Jarit Thai Thai is much better.

We stopped by to pick up takeout and were pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant was open in the upstairs space above its usual cellar space. The host explained that due to a problem with the air conditioning in the downstairs space, about a month ago Heng Thai had moved their operations upstairs, but they might reopen the downstairs when students returned for the fall semester since the restaurant gets so busy. The upstairs is called Mahaheng and the downstairs is called Heng Thai, but for now, they seem to be a single restaurant. The upstairs space provides a nicer atmosphere and is a welcome change!
The food here is still consistently excellent. We ordered Pad C-U and pineapple fried rice, both with extra chicken. Adding extra chicken to the noodle dishes here makes the protein-carb-fat ratio just right for our tastes. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Really enjoyed dining at Heng Thai! The green curry was so tasty I almost finished the entire meal in one sitting! This is a testament to how delicious the food was, especially as the portion sizes are quite large! The scallion pancakes were also a great addition to the meal and perfect to share amongst the group!! Will definitely come back soon to try more of their tasty curry!!
