Steaks, burgers & other American classics served in a historic building with old-fashioned decor.

Respect this establishment!!!! We are lucky Hendricksons still exists. French onion soup and steak sandwich are the same as it was 25 years ago when I went as a child.

Getting this out of the way now. The service and atmosphere are wonderful. Sadly the food was not what I expected, turkey club had a criminally small amount of bacon, but the rest of the sandwich gets an average rating from me and the fries were averag as well, my partner had the chicken with mozzarella cheese in English muffin sandwich which I have forgotten the name of but regardless she was not happy with the quality of the bread and chicken. We discovered the food was mainly a german cuisine which I don’t think is the right fit for us. If you fancy a good drink however this is the right place to be, overall I give the place a B+.

Place/vibe – 4 stars. Very old and unique charm. Heat doesn’t work well though and seats are not super comfy/old. But definitely worth a visit for the decor alone.
Service – 5 stars. Very nice and attentive staff. Well staffed.
food – 3 stars. It was a mixed bag. The corn beef Reuben and soups are very good. It’s huge and loaded with cheese and tender. The burgers are great – massive. Kids burger is a great value.
However, The German food and popular “steak sandwich “ were super overrated and not good. Schnitzel was mediocre and the sauce was awful – very sweet. The steak sandwich was sirloin just not good cut and small portion over toast. I didn’t like it.
Garlic potato’s and garlic sauce in general is very good amazing flavor.
As I said mixed bag.

We got a fairly amazing cheesesteak sandwich at a pretty cozy place with kind service. Recommended for anyone who like this style and good tastes

Went for lunch at this restaurant, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. I had the NY steak with steak fries, and both were great! The steak was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, and the home fries complemented it nicely with their crispiness.
However, I did notice a change in their famous steak sandwich. It didn’t look like the pictures I’d seen in previous reviews. The presentation and perhaps even the ingredients seemed different, which was a bit disappointing. Despite this, the quality of the food was still high, and the atmosphere made for an enjoyable meal. I would probably try the place again, hoping that the steak sandwich might return.

Overpriced mediocre food. Went for brunch and realized that the $29 isn’t any real discount. The entree choices are ~$17, side is probably $7 (guessing because they’re not listed in the menu), then you get coffee/tea and some mini muffins for the remaining $5.
Ordered the Steak and Eggs which the menu claimed was their “Famous Steak Sandwich” but only received a strip of steak with two eggs and some breakfast potatoes. Not exactly sure where the “sandwich” was supposed to come into this. Also got the mac and cheese as my side.
I was first given some very dry muffins then, for some reason, the mac and cheese was delivered about five minutes before my entree and it was just okay. My steak was cooked as ordered but had no seasoning. It was an average meal and, if just based on that, I’d probably give this place 3-4 stars.
However, I was shocked when my bill arrived because of the gall they had to charge $3 PER SODA! The brunch is supposed to come with a drink (admittedly only coffee and tea are listed on the menu) but I’d asked the waitress if I could just do a coke for my drink. At worst, I figured I’d pay a little extra for my drink (had no idea how much because they’re not listed in the menu anywhere) and proceeded to have 2 refills while there. This resulted in $9 being added to my bill when it was not listed or mentioned that each refill was a ridiculous $3. The glass was at least 70% ice too! Insane…
Needless to say I will never be returning to this restaurant and, even when ignoring the soda issue, I’d still recommend people go elsewhere as there are better food options for better prices in Bayonne.

I’m disappointed because there’s no joy, no atmosphere, and from what I gathered, they didn’t want us there. And when the burger arrived, they brought the bill right away, without even waiting for us to finish eating. I really didn’t like it. Disappointed!! I expected more, cheerful staff eager to serve. And the staff were drinking. The restaurant needs experienced professionals. I give two thumbs down!

Great customer service experience, our waitress was very attentive. We went this week around 5 pm and it was not crowded. The atmosphere is a little dark inside, Irish/American old bar style. We got a Reuben (came with steak fries) and Chicken Quesadillas (came with guac, sour cream, and salsa). They werent cheap on their portions, the Quesadilla had 8 pieces and it tasted very good. The reuben was also good and filling. The pricing was fairly priced. Would eat here again if I am in the area.

Hendriksons has been one of my favorite restaurants in Bayonne for years. I usually visit for dinner, but this past weekend, I tried out their brunch menu for the 1st time. It was absolutely wonderful. The menu has a great variety of breakfast/lunch items, and the pricing didn’t break the bank. I also have to mention that the service was great!

Hendrickson’s corner have very distinguished atmosphere. Even if food would not be good (which is not the case) , I’d still come here for good specialty cocktails ( highly recommend “dark and stormy”- will hits you well). Yet , we’ve been recommended to stop for food and the food was indeed very delicious. Service personnel is on top and prices are totally reasonable. Bayonne’s gem for sure
