I was visiting Houston about two weeks ago when a sudden craving for fried chicken hit. Like anyone would, I turned to Instagram for recommendations and that’s how I discovered this gem.
From my very first bite, I was genuinely blown away. Without hesitation, I can confidently say this is the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. The flavor is unreal, the chicken is fresh, perfectly cooked, and it truly lives up to the motto: “Feel the burn at Hen and Bun.” Every bite delivers bold flavor without compromising on quality.
For some context, I’ve tried some of the most well known chicken spots in the Middle East, including Albaik and Tazaj, as well as popular halal fast-food options in Canada like Popeyes and Church’s Chicken, places known for consistency and taste. Yet somehow, Hen and Bun managed to top them all. I originally planned on trying multiple restaurants while in Houston, but I kept coming back here instead of exploring other cuisines.
I’m writing this review because I genuinely want people to experience this place for themselves. If you’re a fried chicken lover, this is a must try. And don’t skip the fries they’re easily a favorite and absolutely worth it.

Hen N Bun food truck is a solid spot for broasted chicken. The chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well seasoned without being overpowering. You can tell it’s freshly made, and the texture is exactly what broasted chicken should be. The fries pair really well with the chicken, especially with their masala-style seasoning that adds extra flavor. Portions are satisfying and worth the price. Service is friendly and quick, which makes it a great stop for casual halal comfort food. Overall, Hen N Bun is a great option if you’re craving flavorful broast chicken and a simple but satisfying meal. I come here every couple days, and will continue to do so.

Tried out Hen n Bun on a friend’s recommendation and I wasn’t disappointed! Everything was on point from fries to chicken cooked really good with lots of flavor and juiciness! If you’re looking to have albaik type broast then make sure to give them a try and you won’t regret it!

This is my third time trying this place in the last 2 weeks, that’s how obsessed I am with it. The best broast I’ve had in all of Houston. Don’t even get me started on their garlic sauce. it’s so, so, so good!!! Both the broast and the garlic sauce are highly comparable to the broast we have in the Middle East.

I have not enjoyed fried chicken in so long I can’t even remember!!! This chicken was absolutely delicious. I can’t even put into words the savory flavor. It was not greasy and didn’t have that weird taste in the meat like fried chicken from other places does. I even ate it late at night and had ZERO problems with it feeling heavy at night. The place is super clean, the young man who was working was kind and even allowed us to sample the seasoning before putting it on. Since it’s cooked to order (which is great bc who wants already fried chicken) we walked around and saw all the other places. Everyone was warm and friendly and it was really live for a Thursday! I can’t wait to go back! Please take the time to stop by and grab some authentic fried chicken. The portions are generous and you will be full! Thanks again and my husband and I can’t wait to go back!

Wow! The fried chicken here totally reminded me of Al Baik — super crispy, juicy, and full of flavor in every bite. You can really taste the spice and freshness. The guy working there was so kind and even gave me a free piece to try before ordering! Prices are great too. Definitely recommending this spot — don’t miss out, it’s worth every bite!
