We started with a few beverages and shareables — the Burrata + Tomatoes and Trio of House Dips were absolutely delicious (the beet hummus is a must-try!). For our mains, we had the Aji Verde Chicken Thighs, Herby Chicken Salad Wrap, and Yoshoku Beef Curry — everything was so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
The staff was friendly, the service was great, and every dish tasted so thoughtfully made. Definitely one of my favorite KC spots — perfect for any meal of the day!

When you walk into this lovely place, you’ll notice that the residents of the Brookside and Waldo neighborhoods LOVE Hemma Hemma. Don’t let it stop you if you love farther away. I recommend it to everyone!
We love to come here around 9am for breakfast. Lattes with original flavors, avocado toast, power banana toast, smoothie bowl, egg soufflé sammich, and their glorious BACON are mouth watering and show stopping. I’m hungry just thinking about it.
They recently opened for dinner, and our experience was equally delightful ☀️
To start, the Smashed Dumpling Tacos were unbelievable! We could have eaten only those and it would have been a perfect meal! They were a balanced blend of savory, tangy, comfort, salty (but not too salty), and citrus – and we will return there soon driven by our desire to eat them again. It’s the kind of dish you can’t stop thinking about later!
Our Main Courses for a party of four: … Yoshuko Beef Curry, Aji Verdi Chicken Thighs, Pickle Chicken Bacon Ranch Salad and an awesome Burger were joyful mains before we finished the meal with a citrus pie (luscious graham cracker crust) and a chocolate dessert whose name I cannot remember but whose taste is unforgettable!
The owner of Hemma Hemma is such a lovely lady, a creative force who pairs flavors beautifully and who manifests a home sweet home vibe in her well decorated space.
Go see Chef Ashley and her team! They are top notch. Thank you for your unparalleled dedication and consistency!
Must stop for KC or traveling vegans
I love the coziness inside and they also have an outdoor patio.
We had excellent service and plan to return soon!
When the food arrived all the bowl style plates are the same color (just aesthetics) and the food looks amazing but is really messy and hard to eat. We ordered the breakfast burrito. The fried pickle biscuit and the power banana toast. All looks appealing but crumbled apart as we tried to eat it. I was also surprised that the egg on the biscuit was a runny egg which really disrupted the flavor. Otherwise it was a great biscuit, tiny bit sweet.
The breakfast burrito is normally smothered in salsa verde but we ordered it on the side. The burrito is mostly egg, which we liked but the other ingredients were lighter on. The banana toast was good and large amount of banana.
Overall thought it was great just hard to eat and messy.
