Lucas, our bartender and server, was phenomenal. Attentive, warm, and genuinely made us feel at home, which is rare these days. Service like that changes everything.
The wine selection is elite, and serving it in proper Riedel glasses shows they actually care about the experience. The happy hour menu is unreal. My husband said the burger might be the best he’s ever had in his life. Truffle fries, house-made ketchup, steak skewers, every bite was on point.
Valet parking made it effortless and fast, which matters. The atmosphere is classy without trying too hard, and the interior design is stunning. You feel like you’re somewhere special the moment you walk in.
This is officially our new regular happy hour spot. Hemlock nailed it.
That said, I really enjoyed the baked Brussels sprouts, and the mashed potatoes were very good. I also appreciated the personalized menu acknowledging my anniversary — that was a thoughtful and special touch.
It was a nice adventure and a pleasant evening overall, but it’s probably not a place I would return to.
Even late in the afternoon, the service was incredibly attentive. We could see staff setting up for the Valentine’s dinner, polishing glasses and silverware with real care and double-checking every table. Our server asked if we’d like a Valentine photo on our phone and later surprised us with a Polaroid from the restaurant as well. We were thanked several times on the way out.
The staff seemed to truly enjoy being there and took pride in their level of service, which says a lot. Friendly, thoughtful, warm, and polished without feeling stuffy. We’ll definitely be back. It was a lovely experience. Thank you!
My wife and I flew to Boisie from Phoenix just to come to this restaurant for our anniversary. It had popped up on social media for me a few times and looked like a great experience. They did not disappoint.
Service: I booked a reservation for our anniversary. When we arrived our table was ready along with a custom printed menu saying happy anniversary and the date. Great way to kick things off. Table side service was prompt, incredibly friends, and not over barring.
Food: you 100% get what you pay for. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned, no need for salt or sauces. The baked potato for 2 stole the night. Great presentation and fun experience.
Atmosphere: dark and eloquent. It was not too loud, even for a full restaurant.
We had the pleasure of getting Jonny as our server. Jonny was incredibly helpful, polite, and ensured our experience overall was perfect. We asked for his thoughts on multiple parts of the dinner, particularly choices in wine, steak, and dessert. All of his recommendations were fantastic.
What’s also unique about this steakhouse is they have a table side potato bar. I don’t know why other restaurants haven’t thought of this. It’s the perfect Idaho idea! All that to say, they sequenced the dinner perfectly so that as soon as our potato for two people was ready and set on the table, our filets were landing in front of us, perfectly warm and ready to eat.
This location had someone dedicated to clearing off empty dishes. We would see him perform laps around the restaurant about every minute or so. Within a minute of us finishing our food, the plates were gone. Water never went below half-full and was refilled promptly.
For dessert, we got 2 free Charcoal Lemon Drops to celebrate my birthday. We also ordered the crustless cheesecake. This was a perfect option as I don’t eat gluten.
Overall, the atmosphere, people, and food were all so enjoyable. We will be back again soon and will be requesting Jonny as our server again. Thank you for the wonderful time, Hemlock!
The restaurant is definitely not super fancy like I was expecting with the menu pricing. We’re from Dallas so I think I was expecting more but it was nice for Boise.
The filet mignon was perfect melted in your mouth, don’t waste any time on any other steak!
The lobster tail was very disappointing. They said it was a “Caribbean” lobster tail after I had sent it back because it was very tough. They made me feel like I was stupid for not knowing where the lobster tail came from and as if my pallet wasn’t good enough since I’m used to a “Maine” lobster, when nothing on the menu specifically says where the lobster tail comes from. So if you’re expecting a juicy and flavorful lobster tail skip over this $40 one. It was dry and tough, I split it in half and ate the inside where I didn’t have to over chew. I guess they need to specify what a Caribbean lobster tail is and that the outside of it will be dry and tough, making you feel like it still has some sort of shell on it.
The mocktail I had on the other hand, was amazing and can imagine their other cocktails would be quite delicious! The table side baked potato is 10/10 and what makes the whole experience worth it.
The bread was a huge miss for us. It came out pretty dry and the insides were cold. The presentation was unique but it was just a miss. However, French onion soups was delicious but a tad too salty. Ribeye was amazing but the flavor combinations for the broccolini and carrots were strange and had some Hispanic flare to them which was strange for an American restaurant. They were good but they didn’t necessarily blend well.
Overall it was an amazing environment and service was top notch but it was extremely expensive and some of the flavors were off.
