My husband and I went to Hemingway’s for our Anniversary. The staff was incredibly nice. We received a complimentary glass of champagne. The manager came over and greeted us and gave us a nice handwritten card. Balloons were already at our table. The waitress was friendly and sweet. Chief Nicholas came out and greeted us. The food was excellent. We had appetizers, the grand meatball and the fried calamari. Our main dishes were the crab cakes and the seafood scampi. I can not say enough about how mouthwatering the food was. We also received complimentary desserts! The drinks were delicious. I had the chocolate martini and my husband had the espresso martini. The entire experience was fantastic! We will definitely be returning the next time we are in Cape May.

I was staying at the hotel so we dropped by for dinner, breakfast, and happy hour throughout the long weekend. I was here end of December, right before Christmas.
Hemingway was great for a hotel restaurant. Don’t expect a Michelin star experience – probably a tad better than Applebee’s. I had no issues with service or the quality of food. They do play the Eagles game at the bar area and there’s a live DJ over the weekend. Plan accordingly.
We wanted happy hour but was sat at the dinner area. The server didn’t look thrilled but the manager said it was okay since the bar was full.
If I wasn’t given resort cash to spend at the restaurant, I probably would’ve tried other dining areas off-property.
Dropped a few pics of what we had. Clam chowder had probably 3-4 pieces of clams -sad.

We recently had an incredible dining experience that truly touched our hearts. When the restaurant graciously comped our entire family’s dinner in honor of my husband’s Coast Guard uniform, we were completely overwhelmed by their generosity and gratitude for his service. It’s rare to find a business that goes out of their way to show appreciation like that, and it meant the world to our family.
Beyond the incredible act of kindness, the meal itself was outstanding. The portions were absolutely enormous — we left stuffed and honestly could have shared! The food was delicious from start to finish, and the service was attentive, warm, and genuinely made us feel like family from the moment we walked in.
This is the kind of place that reminds you what community is all about. We will absolutely be back, and we can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for honoring our servicemember and for an unforgettable evening!

This place is extraordinary. The food was great the service was even better and the atmosphere was just as good. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an early dinner. The pricing was well aligned with the service and the food quality

My husband and I were staying at the Grand Hotel and thought we’d try the attached restaurant. We were pleased with the service and enjoyed the food. We had the calamari appetizer. It was tasty and the fried peppers and lemons they were served with were very good. We also ordered the 7 onion soup which was absolutely delicious. Not salty like the typical French onion soup. Very savory but light. Definitely will order that again. My husband ordered the prime ribeye and said it was perfectly cooked and amazing. I had the scallops served over rice. The rice was not hot, which was a little disappointing but it did have a nice flavor. The scallops and raspberry glaze was very good and I enjoyed it.
I ordered a few cocktails but was not really a fan of any of them. I don’t drink hard alcohol much these days so they all seemed too strong for me.
Overall, a nice experience with good food. Will definitely go back.

We decide to try the prime rib special last Wednesday. It was a perfect dinner and value. Service was excellent. Since we were staying at the grand we decide to try breakfast the next day. I had the Greek omelette and my wife had the veggie omelette. This was One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Cape May.

Stayed at the grand hotel and the food was amazing. The manager and his son went out of their way to accomFate us. Friend spilled sauce on shirt and manager came over with mineral water and rag to clean her stain up without asking for. Took the time to talk to us about our trip and made us feel like regulars.

Made a reservation at Hemmingways as we are staying at the Grand Hotel for my wife’s birthday and our anniversary in 5 days. Our order of appetizers took almost an hour to hit the table. Other tables around us came in after us but received theirs. Asked to speak to a manager at the 1 hour mark. He looked our way then sent someone else 10 minutes later. Our apps come out, then entrees almost immediately. My wife’s was cold, mine was wrong. Asked for the check and boxes. The absolute worst dining experience E V E R ! Never again. The table next to us looks like mold on the ceiling.

It’s unfortunate because this place had potential but the food was a disappointment. I ordered the scallops featured in the first photo. The cook on them was subpar and the rice underneath was dry, cold, and lacked a light/fluffy texture. The crab cakes in the second photo weren’t anything to write home about, the rice was the same as the scallop dish and the couple veggies… well, you can just see how they look on the plate. The third photo is our appetizers. Though the one was very good, the calamari was gross! It was not crispy, the breading was gritty and mushy. The service was bad; the waitress was inattentive and served half the meals while others at the table had to sit and wait. It was a hassle to try to find her to refill water glasses or have her simply ask how our meal was. We will not be going back. It’s not worth the money.

Food is really good, the staff is also really kind. This place deserves more stars. Chicken fingers were amazing and same with the burgers, little expensive but it’s ok, the chocolate brownie fudge is really good. 5 stars. Credit to the person who served my table.
