New American dishes made with local ingredients fill the blackboard menu at this small BYO spot.

Helm will be a restaurant I return to time and time again. The dishes are creative, fresh, and delicious — and the hospitality incredibly generous. The space was extremely cozy and welcoming and with a 3 course meal priced at $60 (and BYOB) – its value can’t be beat. I am very grateful I stumbled upon this lovely space!

This is such a fun, creative BYOB spot. I love how they change up the menu and it’s always a surprise. I won’t knock a star for it given how unique this place is, but it would be great to have one vegetarian option for the main course (coming from someone who isn’t a vegetarian but typically doesn’t order large meat dishes for a main).

This place is awesome. The food, the staff, the service were all top notch. It doesn’t feel like a stuffy 5 star restaurant but your food tastes every bit like it would at a 5 star. It’s BYOB and one of the wine bottle we brought had a cork that disintegrated and they kindly filtered it all out and put it in a decanter for us. Every single course was delicious!! We each got a different appetizer, two different entrées, and two different desserts. Every one of the appetizers was amazing, but I thought the wax beans by far were the best. The carrots were also delicious and everyone really loved the rice noodles too. Each dish was unique and super flavorful!! The steak appetizer was excellent. My scallops were good but not my favorite mix. The desserts were very good and we had to get them to go so I’m sure they would have been even better fresh. I will 1000% be back. Bravo Helm, you know what you’re doing!!!

Helm is outstanding, a neighborhood gem! Super cozy and cute space with incredibly friendly service. We tried almost every dish, the food was so so imaginative and tasty and an incredible value at $60 for 3 courses. One of our party was gluten free and was able to have just about everything on the menu including ice cream sandwich for dessert!

We rented out the entire restaurant at Helm for our rehearsal dinner, and it was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The food was beyond — truly some of the best meals our guests said they’ve ever had in Philadelphia. People were raving about it as they walked out the door.
The team was so accommodating throughout the entire process. From planning to execution, everything felt seamless. They welcomed us to really make the space our own, we dropped off our own booze and personal touches and completely took over the place for the night, and they couldn’t have been more gracious about it.
The atmosphere, the service, the attention to detail all top tier. It was the perfect setting for such a special night, and we couldn’t have imagined a better rehearsal dinner. If you’re considering hosting a private event here, do it. Absolute 10/10.

Our first experience at Helm was excellent! It had come highly recommended from several friends, and we always love a good BYOB. The service was excellent — the guys explained everything, returned many times to check on us, and gave great recommendations. The food was phenomenal! So creative and interesting. My favorites were the seasonal dishes: tomato app and peach cobbler dessert. Finally, we loved how cute/cozy it was, and how they were chill about us ordering piecemeal (rather than all at once). Highly recommend!!

I fell in love with the food here after the first bite. First of all, I’m not a fan of American food; however, Helm has changed my mind. This place is just became one of my favorite restaurant in Philly!
The best scallops I’ve ever had, so tender and flavorful. It was just WOW in my mouth! Everything we had was so good. And what I like most about here is their menu, they based on seasonal ingredients. So you get to try different dishes every season. Can’t wait to come back and try their next seasonal menu. FYI it’s BYOB here, which is a bonus!
It’s such a cozy, fun vibe inside. Service was very attentive and helpful.
Highly recommend this place!

The appetizers I ate here are some of the best dishes I have ever tasted in my life. The Apple Gouda salad was savory tender dressed perfectly without being soggy. The mushroom gnudi was perfectly done, soft, and meaty tasting! The pork chop entree was outstanding, the flavors were incredible. The steak was cooked perfectly and the tempura beets were out of this world. The desserts were a bit of a letdown after what was otherwise an incredible meal. The pastry of the apple tart was too thick and the cake was a very dry but the icing was too die for. I can’t wait to come back!!! The menu rotates!!! Overall the experience was still one of the best in Philly

Truly my favorite restaurant in Philly. The service is amazing. I am always impressed by their rotating menu. You get so much food for the price per person. It’s a great place to bring friends or family. I wish them only success and best.
