I must preface that I have been coming to this restaurant for the past ten years. Before Covid, and before the reopening. It was good then, and I do not know what changes occurred behind the scenes recently to warrant my low rating. I can only speak for my experiences this past year.

My wife and I love this place. We almost always used to come weekly due to how much we loved their various rolls. It was actually my wife who introduced me to sushi, and since then I’ve always grabbed the same order, salmon nigiri and a Jessica roll, or a Washington. My wife has wildly more variety than me, but she would always leave content.

Recently, that hasn’t been happening. Maybe it’s ourselves changing, or maybe the restaurant, but the food we’ve gotten just isn’t the same. The baked rolls we used to receive are now cold, the rice mush, and the inside of rolls filled with too much shredded crab. My usual Jessica roll order used to have the tempura inside be crunchy and warm, now it’s soggy and cold.

This last visit was just the tipping point for us. We loved coming here because it was good portions, good price, and a great atmosphere to eat with family and friends. Now, it’s just another sushi place that has deviated from the standards it used to have. While the service itself was impeccable, that’s not the only reason we go for in a food place.

Was never a fan of sushi until I tried Happy Sushi. This place is a gem in my opinion. Great lunch specials and worth the 35 minute drive.

We placed an online order in advance to avoid waiting, but when we arrived, we were told the order hadn’t even been accepted yet. This resulted in an additional 30-minute wait for our food.

Before leaving, we spoke with the server on duty, and my friend left her contact information for the manager to follow up. No one ever reached out, and follow-up calls went unanswered.

While the servers were friendly and checked on us multiple times, the purpose of ordering ahead is convenience. Given that another reviewer reported the same issue, the restaurant needs to either accept online orders promptly or communicate delays upfront—otherwise there’s little point in ordering online through their website.

Hello Sushi
Finally a Sushi place I enjoy the food. We had it delivered. But next time i definitely will go in. The sushi was fresh and the cucumber sushi was delicious. I got the crunchy sushi roll. My favorite. Finally I found Hello Sushi who makes it how I love it. Located behind McDonald’s on Redlands Blvd near Alabama Street

This is a must try it!

I recommend you try all their sushi

Good sushi spot with excellent service, our waitress was nice and helpful. Food was good overall. No complaints from me or any of my friends that came with me. We came on a Friday around 2 and it was not really crowded. Price was $32.99 for all you can eat which is not bad either.

Service isn’t the best, food is always good. Prices are good. The strawberry Nigori is amazing.

BEWARE. We ordered online through THEIR website, showed up 20 minutes later, and the girl says that they never “accepted” the order. Well, when we placed the order, it charged my card and sent us a confirmation code, so I guess I’m not aware of any additional approval that was needed. Stupid. After waiting an additional 30 minutes, we thought we received our order. When we got home, we realized an entire roll was missing. After calling the restaurant and speaking to multiple people who at one point told us “you need to come back after we’re closed to speak to the owner”. Yeah, that’s totally how I want to spend New Years. The last guy we talked to before hanging up said “if you want to talk to the owner and get a refund, you’ll need to bring back all your food.” This place was amazing with the old owners years ago, now it’s a joke. Will not be returning (was a NYE tradition) and will be filing a claim. Also, the sushi that we DID receive is nothing like it used to be. With so many great options in Redlands, you’d be wasting your time with this fraud.

Long time customer here (8+ yrs)

Price is cheap
Quality – mid at best
Service – bad to ok

As a long time customer, I’ve definitely seen the decline in the quality and service over the years. Quality decline is not as bad as the decline is service though.

The servers need to be trained. The servers, you could tell, they are new to the service industry. Servers are very young, teens if not early 20s. They lack proper training, from their introduction to service.
They look stressed or unhappy. Depressing vibes.
Several times now, we didnt get wasabi right off the bat. One time i asked for one, i got handed with a plate and big dollop of wasabi like its a side dish.

Sushi the last few times we’ve visit has been falling apart terribly. Half the time you cant even use the chop sticks because the roll will literally come undone.

Msg for the owner – train your servers and your chefs. It would be a shame to lose this restaurant.

Was very happy with the food but it’s always very tasty just has some concerns about the customer service the waitress we had never gave us silverware or napkins and never came around to give us refills very disappointing to know that the people there were not professional and were always talking with there coworkers like gossiping about other things other then taking care of there customers. I was very impressed with Mia she actually came and handled our table and very professional she took care of us very happy with her made our day thank you Mia!!

Service was really bad took 30 minutes to get a table for my friend and I. We arrived around 7:30 once we finally got a call back. We walked in and waited and nobody acknowledged us. Until someone asked we figured we had spoken to this person over the phone that the table was ready. We were sat finally never asked what I wanted to drink only my friend and then when I asked for a drink he never came back. He just started cleaning a table… I’ve worked food service before I know stuff happens. But genuinely I’ve never been serviced this bad nor left a bad review. Disappointed I had heard this sushi place was good. Won’t be coming back.
