Stopped in after a charity event. We were way over dressed and entire bar was full of regulars i would assume by conversations we had. They all just looked at as, as we walked around we were greeted by the bartender an she was super nice. The people at the bar started to talk to us and once they heard we were at a charity event they were really cool people. Awesome place. Would definitely go back. Highly recommend.

Husband came in to play the pa skills machines. Was playing the dot game which is what makes it not gambling and machine was unplugged and rudely told to leave. If you want the people to gamble your machines then you should have a gambling license. What makes the machines legal is the “skills (dot game)” of the machine allowing you a second chance for your bet. Make sure you know your legality of your machines before you unlawfully remove someone from your permises. When it clearly says from the manufacturer that its a memory or recorded game so use of a phone would be recording the pattern which according to manufacturer is completely legal. Also, owner should have taken the time to hear the other side of the story of why it was being done this way instead of using poor customer service skills. How he became a owner is beyond me. Money doesn’t buy all happiness. Proper authority has been notified at this point.

So the food we ordered was cold. Like almost still frozen in the center. The bartender was lovely but you can’t make up for bad food and gross patrons with good service. There was customer sitting at the bar, took her shoes off and sat with her nasty feet rubbing all over the stool. Was obviously a regular. So nasty. Don’t want toe jam with my drink, thanks.

Helen’s has always been a dive bar, but this place has gone so downhill. My friend and I played the lottery machine, the bartender asked us if wanted wanted to cash out. I had won $37, what she gave me was $7. Then she ran away and would not serve us again. Their bartenders stealing from what they believe are “drunk customers”. I remember everything and will not be stepping foot back in this place. It’s always been a dive bar, but at least I could trust the old bartenders not to steal from me.
UPDATE: Not only will I never return but I do have confirmation your bartender stole from me. You are alone (the owner) are confirming my claim now. Do not come here unless you want to get ripped off by underpaid bartenders. I could only assume that’s why they steal from customers.

Helens is a staple of Leola. However, that comes with some inherited conns. While the general crowd there is normal people, the excentrics are really excentric. The last time I was there, i was convinced this drunken old dude was looking for ways to take the 22 year old girl he kept trying to hit on. On the bright side, most of us were looking out for her, so i guess that’s nice, right?
Beer is really cheap and the bar is kept clean these days now thats its nonsmokong. The falling apart bathrooms are part of the charm we assume.
