This is a charming little out of the way place with the most AMAZING baked goods and pastries that are made fresh daily! Perfect place to come and relax and have great food.

This place is amazing! Croissants, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, and coffee were delicious. Service was friendly and quick. If you’re passing through town, take the time to stop here.

Things I love: their bread and chocolate chip cookie! The pastries are delightful and I used to buy their bread weekly. However, I won’t anymore because of…

Things I don’t love: their service and menu. Every time I’ve gone in there (which has probably amounted to 20-30 times now) the staff looks inconvenienced to see me. Often times they are hiding in the back and I have to call for them to help me. If I ask a question, they don’t usually have an answer. This makes the entire experience of eating there unpleasant and awkward. Additionally, their menu is not consistent, so you never know what you are going to find.

This is not even to mention the burger, which I was excited to try and then couldn’t even eat because it was raw. The texture and appearance of the inside of the burger was raw. It was a disappointment.

Go here for the bread. Skip here for the menu or sit down meals/coffee dates.

I’ve passed this place a few times and decided to try it out. I was disappointed walking in and seeing the inside and lack of baked goods. Decided to try it still. I ordered 2 fruity drinks that I could have made at home. The blandest brisket sandwich with a little meat and a ton of coleslaw on it and 8 pieces of soggy lettuce as a side salad drenched with dressing and a huge, dry, cold cinnamon bun. I’ve had better baked goods at Walmart.

Helen St. bakehouse is such an under appreciated staple in Lake Charles, most people don’t know that they provide bread and pastries to a lot of the local restaurants and coffee shops in the area!! But you can just come straight here, skip the craziness, and support them directly! If you do, please please try this brisket sandwich (absolutely amazing), some of their freshly baked bread, and super soft chocolate chip cookies! We love this place and will be back soon!

Long-time wholesale bakery that’s just opened up a new storefront, Helen St. Bakehouse has a really chill atmosphere with some tasty treats. Come early, though, because breakfast items were getting snatched up left and right. I’m really hoping that the cafe takes off so that there will be even more options.

The spinach feta croissant was amazing! Probably the most soft/moist croissant wrap I have ever had. I also picked up two beautiful loafs of bread! Delicious!

The best croissants in Lake Charles! We got the strawberry & Bavarian, blueberry & cream cheese, feta & spinach, and ham & cheese. They were all delicious and highly praised by both of us. Make sure you go early as they tend to sell out of stuff fast. We will be going back to try more things.

Had the breakfast sandwich this morning and it was absolutely delicious. The croissant was perfect! I also bought a blueberry muffin because it was calling my name. It was the best muffin I’ve ever had. I should have bought 5. I cannot recommend this place enough.
