I have normally had really good experiences here, especially buying individual desserts and meals. For our family’s thanksgiving celebration, I ordered a fruit tray, rolls, sweet potato casserole, and two pies. Most of it was really tasty! But the meringue pie was incredibly weepy. The chocolate was good, but our family agreed the meringue was completely inedible. It was a really moist, foamy, off-putting texture. I’m also disappointed that I paid extra for marshmallows on my sweet potato casserole and there were not nearly enough. I would say just buy your own bag of store bought marshmallows and put enough on the top so you’re not paying extra. I was really sad about the meringue though, it looked so good from the outside. The pumpkin pie was delicious and so were the rolls!

We hired Heitzman to cater for our Whitehall wedding on 09.14.25. We couldn’t have asked for a better catering experience! From start to finish, everything was completely stress-free thanks to their amazing customer service. They went above and beyond to take care of us and our guests by offering delicious vegan and vegetarian options, providing excellent bar service, and even making sure our leftover food was packed up for us at the end of the night.
The food was incredible and so many guests complimented both the meal and cake. Everything was beautifully presented, flavorful, and served right on time.
If you’re looking for a caterer who delivers on taste, service, and peace of mind, this is the one to book!

Heitzman’s Bakery was a party-saver!! Thank you to the team for making my last-minute order happen! I ordered two-dozen Bavarian style pretzels for an Oktoberfest party from a bougie internet pretzel company and paid extra for overnight shipping to ensure the pretzels were perfectly fresh. The day before the party, “bougie pretzels” texted an apology saying they wouldn’t be sending the order until the next week. Heitzman’s not only made two dozen delicious pretzels for the next day, but they also had some wonderful cookies that were very popular with my guests. Thanks again and I will be ordering from this bakery again.

Went to heitzman this morning for their poppyseed bagels because they’re one of the few places you can find poppyseed in Louisville. One of the three is the size of an average dinner roll. Kind of looks like a dinner roll too. At $2.50 each, it should be larger. I also got a box of mixed pastries and donuts although I generally stopped getting their pastries years ago due to their product being hit or miss on freshness. So far the cheese and caramel ones from the case are stale. Not rock hard stale but not enjoyable and definitely not fresh. Hoping the donuts are at least fresh. We’ll see. Service was good this morning but can also be hit or miss. (It was also just me at 7 am and an empty parking lot in front (that might tell you something). You sometimes get ignored or it’s incredibly slow. And a couple of months ago I actually had to argue with one woman because she insisted on telling me the sesame seed bagels she was giving me were poppyseed. Thought I entered an alternate universe with that conversation. Of the two dozen Christmas cookies I bought from the case this past December (yes I gave them another chance because I was bringing a treat to an event and didn’t have time to bake my own and I was in the area), only one of the approximate four varieties I tried was fresh. Have been disappointed with a very soggy cannoli and a stale, specially ordered king cake as well many years ago. (They did say they would replace the king cake for free the following day, but Lent had begun so while I appreciated the offer, that ship had sailed.) When their product is fresh, their product is excellent. (I’ve had their king cake when it’s fresh and it’s amazing.) Unfortunately, many of my experiences, like this morning, have been been disappointing.

They have a cafe menu in addition to their baked goods. There is a large dining area with plenty of seating. The chicken salad was yummy!

I heard about this place from a youtube video.
Let me tell you that the video didn’t do this place justice
The cinnamon roll pictured was really good.
I also had the Hometown Burrito (10.50) I failed to take a picture because I devoured it. That was definitely 5 star.
This is a great little local place I wish we still had back home. It’s nice to see in a world where corporations take over that this mom and pop bakery is still around.

Such a great local bakery. They created 6 dozen custom cookies that look and taste amazing. I love supporting family owned restaurants

The food here is beyond. I got a philly cheesesteak, Cole slaw, chicken and dumplings, and a cinnamon roll. It was so good. Dipping the Philly cheese steak into the chicken and dumplings soup made it that much better. The Cole slaw was rich with the perfect tang. The cinnamon roll was giant, so fluffy and light. After this food coma, I will be back!

Ordering was stressful because the half sandwich combo is limited to specific sandwiches that aren’t notated on the paper menu. The chip options aren’t on the menu either nor are they set out in a visible place despite plenty of space to display them.
The ordering experience can be improved significantly by posting menus on the wall like most businesses and updating the printed menu to show which sandwiches are included.
I ordered the pastrami sandwich. I don’t know what traditionally comes on a pastrami and was only given cheese options. I got a dry sandwich with barely any meat (I added mustard at home). The pastrami choice was a $1.50 upcharge so it was pretty insulting.
I also asked for it on a bagel and after 10min or so I was told they couldn’t do that. At this point you should just give me the bagel.
While we waited I ate the green leaf cookie I ordered and it tasted like refrigerator. My friend tried it and agreed it was stale so we threw it away.
They gave us the wrong bag of chips and a fork for chili.
Will not be back. Not good value and poor ordering experience.

I have very mixed feelings about Heitzman’s after my wedding. To start, we chose them for our cake and cupcakes for the wedding. Jacob was great during our taste testing. Very informative and great to work with. After this great experience, I chose to work with them for my bridal shower. I order a couple dozen cookies. Half of my order was laser printed with images I created while the other half of my order was wedding shape and themed. I picked up my order and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The decorated cookies looked rushed and unprofessional. The product was something I would expect from children decorating their homemade cookies. After the event, I tried reaching out to the manager numerous times over several weeks by email and phone. After several attempts, I finally got an email back. Emily was very nice and accommodating. She gave me a partial refund and ensured me that my wedding product would be flawless. Unfortunately, that was the only communication I received. Come wedding week, I had not heard from anyone in regard to the delivery of the cupcakes and cake for the big day. I called the Tuesday prior to my wedding to ensure time and delivery. They answered the phone, transferred me to catering, and I was quickly told it would be delivered at a set time and immediately hung up on.
I luckily have no complaints about the delivery, but the customer service of this bakery needs to be addressed. I understand there is a change management, but a local bakery such as this can quickly fall under if their product and customer service begins to slip.
