I love Mexican food, especially when it’s authentic. I am not from the area but a patient was having lunch (Hector’s carry out) and couldn’t help but noticed how good it smelled and looked and had to try it out.

3 areas that separate Mexican restaurants are: their salsa, chips and taco salads. They were all amazing. Chips were thick and crispy, both salsas were made in house (the green was spicy, but it complemented the lettuce to calm it down).

Not from around here but will definitely make this a reason to come back.

A little pricey for what I ordered but the experience was good

I had an Enchilada and it was possibly the most authentic Enchilada i ever had.
A very simple place but with great quality and affordable food, Hector’s Cocina is located inside a historic mall.
A complimentary watermelon drink drove home the wow factor, considering its about 80% humidity at about 85 degrees.
Definitely would recommend, and would be delighted to bring my friends here.

We stumbled upon this little place for lunch while in Oregon, IL and glad we did! The cafe was very clean and the young lady taking our order was kind and attentive. Then our tacos came and they were delicious!! I am sad I don’t have a picture to share, I ate it before I thought to do so!

We have stopped here when in the area and the food is always delicious, the prices reasonable, and the service wonderful. I stopped today while driving through and was thrilled to see they were open. Lunch was delicious.

We LOVE Hectors. We eat there every time we visit Oregon. We love them so much that we had them cater our wedding. They were easy to communicate with, the food arrived exactly as we expected and tasted amazing, and they helped make our day extra special. Would absolutely recommend eating there or having them cater your events!

Convinced my son to try Hector’s for the first time. Called in an order for pick up, which was ready and waiting when he got there. He was surprised and impressed at how big the potions are for the price, and is happy to have left overs. I’ve loved Hector’s since day one, and today you added another fan. Thanks for another great meal Michelle and Hector!

Really truly terrible experience here. I think if any of the owners of this place are Mexican, They need to be ashamed to be calling this Mexican food. Let me start with the salsa, It was like 50% water, 50% can tomatoes, with dry cayenne pepper mixed in for spice. Totally disgusting. Same with the green salsa. The steak had absolutely no flavor, I could make better Mexican food at home. What a waste of money and I embarrassed my Mexican wife by bringing her here. Honestly, I don’t know where these good reviews are coming from. Must be just small town white Americans who have never left to eat Mexican food in the city or in Mexico. The only thing we liked was the decor. But this place sits in the corner of a musty smelling, dusty old building that sells vintage goods. There was almost no one there.
