Food was fantastic and service was fast. Rare to find pork ribs this good near Austin, they we’re melt off the bone and delicious. The BBQ sauce was delicious, so we’re the beans and the mac and cheese. If you like good BBQ then you must try this place.

Pretty good bbq…it has produced some mighty fine Texas munchies. They lay it on thick.
Could improve on their side dishes. Meat is pretty good but only on one visit i got some pretty tough meat..that was unusual.
The price is middling. Generally it is a pleasant place to stop for quick BBQ satisfaction….with a laid back old Austin ambiance….
nice palm trees for shade…music next door in ear shot…a nice walk to car after a meal and even a hippo visit on East St for the kids. Try them out. It is a pretty good place. Smells mighty good, too!

Seriously the BEST BBQ I’ve ever had. I ordered the loaded baked potato. Their potato are football size and when they say loaded they mean LOADED!!! Brisket (I can’t even describe how good the brisket is – I’m speechless!!), beans, cheese, sour cream. I took about 2/3 of it home. We plan to split it between 3 of us next time.

Read some good reviews so figured I would give them a try. Wow nothing like the reviews I read. The brisket was gray looking and no smoke ring or flavor. Looked like it was day old or reheated. The ribs looked to be a good cut of meat but also lacked any flavor. I read they use a rub maybe they ran out on this batch leaving it just a bland hickory smoke flavor. Pretty disappointed

Nice place for a quick lunch or even an wekeend family lunch. Its a very cozy place and felt like I’m seating on my own backyard, had a very homely feel to it.
The brisket tacos were great. We ordered the 3 meat platter with brisket, links and chicken. The chicken felt a little dry though.
My son liked the mac and cheese though it was a bit too spicy for his taste, if you are ordering just make sure they don’t add any extra pepper to it.
The banana pudding was awesome. If you are there definitely order it.

Wedding coordinator, fiance, & I met up out here to try their food and talk to the owner/operator about catering out wedding. I could go on about how everyone really enjoyed the food, and I tell you how friendly and professional the owner is, but to keep things short, I’ll just say that we are excited that The Heart of Texas Barbecue will be catering our wedding.

Everyone loved the food. My wife and I, as well as out 120 guests, could not have asked for better food, or service. Wonderful buffet spread with all the service and clean up one could ask for.

Quality, tenderness, and flavor of the bbq has gone down significantly. To boot, their customer service is minimal, long time waiting for the food, asked the employee where the other meat plate I ordered was, he said they ran out, offered a different meat plate, I chose one, waited longer, then when he brought the food it wasn’t the meat I settled for the second time!

The service and the food was fantastic. The meat is moist and you get a lot for your money. It’s so good you don’t even need to add bbq to it if you don’t want to. Will definitely visit again.

They ran out of brisket so I tried the sausage it has Jalapenos in it and I was not a fan of that. Their beans are the spicy Ranch Style Beans from a can, but their brisket sandwich is good.
