I wanted some old fashioned breakfast and Heart of Gold serves breakfast all day. We were able to sit down immediately and place our order. The waitress was welcoming and many locals were there. All of the food was delicious and very inexpensive. The gravy was full of flavor and the biscuits were golden and flakey! The pancakes were fluffy and yummy! Our bacon was crispy and had good flavor. The French toast was good too. Overall, great experience there!!!

The Sevice was fast and friendly. Atmosphere reminds me of a former Pizza Hut. The food was pretty flavorless and the hamburger meat was very gristly. This is pretty much a bare bones diner, but it was inexpensive, so that may be why.

This is a charming little place for some delicious comfort food and a hometown atmosphere.
We ordered quite a bit of food – the Philly Steak Omelet, The Challenger Burger, Fried Pickles, and Jalapeno Poppers. All of the food was great – the grits and fried pickles were especially good.
I think our waitress was having a bad day or was new, as she was kind of rude and obviously very sick and tired.

I had eaten at the other location, but not at this one. Stopped here for breakfast after an appointment in Beckley. I had eggs, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. It was very good… the service was great, kept my coffee cup full. Casual atmosphere, down home cooking, and super service… can’t ask for more.

Service was okay, but for a slow morning (only 4 tables) the waitress brought us our drinks within a minute and asked us if we were ready to order which we literally just started looking through the menu. The food was pretty good, although the ham was too salty but some people like it that way. Overall it’s pretty good I guess. I got a toco salad instead of ham and it was really good! The French toast was very moist and the bacon was thin and crispy (hard to find).

Had a great, filling and delightful brunch on my way out of town from a recent visit to the new river gorge national park. Old time feel diner, cheap prices. Great French toast and cheesy grits. Only had one waitress when I was there (Sunday 8/1/21) around 930am…but she was working her tail off doing everything, and all with a smile! Nothing fancy, just good home cook’n style meals.

Cool little place. Service was a little lacking. They ran out of mushrooms and we had three dishes with mushrooms and we had to figure out which one had to get the mushrooms. The whole diner was slow and the waitress didn’t seem to come out or be present around the front area so we had to call the phone number to get her to come out. Decent food

Good food after a long hike in the national park. I had a chopped steak burger and mashed potatoes, fried pickle chips, yum. The sweet tea is cold and sweet. There’s a nice lady running the whole show all by herself, it seems. Excellent service.
