This place was amazing. (I’m a BBQ snob.) The sweet tea was like my Grandma used to make. The Max and Cheese was better than my mom’s. (Ahhh don’t tell her I said that.) The whole hog sandwich was enough for two people. I forced myself to eat all of it. I was not wasting anything that good. If you are not eating here, you are wrong.

Best food in Bibb County! Wonderful staff and quick service! Menu changes daily so there is a variety of choices. Just wish they had a bigger location so you could dine in. There’s only room for a small bar with 4 stools and a 2 person table. I would have deducted a star for the atmosphere but I know they’re doing the best they can with what they have to work with and I didn’t want to hurt their google rating. Y’all go get you some Heard’s BBQ and Soul Food!

Pork sandwich: Meat was perfect, pulled with a nice amount of outside meat which I love. Great smoke flavor, too. Bun was nice, and those pickles are crucial.
BUT…. that sauce. Almost a deal killer for me. Syrup-sweet and sticky, opposite of my likes. PLEASE at least offer an alternative, non-sweet sauce with some spice to it.

I stopped by while headed to Tuscaloosa from Montgomery. The Service was quicker than expected. I ordered a bbq pork sandwich. It was pretty good. Sauced just enough to keep it from being messy. Felt fancy and ordered a couple doughnuts. Tried 1 and tossed the other. It just wasn’t for me. I would recommend the pork sandwich though.

When into heards today and one guy in there, ordered a large bbq pork with the sauce on the side, nothing wrong with that, got home and no sauce on the side, I don’t like the sauce to watery and low and behold I get home and no bbq sauce on the side, just a mess of BBQ sauce running every where, tried to call and you can’t get thru. Just a recording, why can’t people working in these places do their jobs instead of talking to another customer and not paying attention to the orders. They just don’t care anymore

Heard’s is near the top of my list for pulled pork sandwiches in the state of Alabama. Get the spicy sauce. Thank me later. The man knows his ribs as well. Grilled for a few hours, they have a chew that’s near-perfect. They’re not long-smoked and they needn’t be. Very simple, very delicious. If you are a true BBQ lover, a drive to Maplesville is mandatory. It’s that good. Get there early!
