The HC Kitchen and Bar hit it out of the park! After a long day of travel, I stopped by to grab a bite to eat and was amazed by the delicious menu. The mushrooms on toast was a fantastic starter and the vegetable pasta was absolutely amazing.
If you are looking for a upscale meal in Cashiers, I’d highly recommend this place.
P.S. Don’t forget to give their cocktail menu a look, they have some great options.

Researching a special place to celebrate an important birthday, I decided on HC Kitchen & Bar based on the positive reviews and photos posted. Unfortunately this place was a disappointment from the start. It had a very limited entree menu, but that’s okay. However, they had run out of the fish several days before, which was a let down because the birthday guest was pescatarian. This left only a handful of options. Four of us ordered the pasta with vegetables. This was a heavy, alfredo-like dish with only zucchini and yellow squash. The portions were inconsistent, mine being half the size as my mothers’. One of the dishes only had 4 pieces of zucchini. It should have been called spaghetti Alfredo. Paying $$$ for a dish like that will make you lose your appetite quickly. Wait staff never checked on us, and failed to refill water until we were done eating (almost everyone had an empty water glass). If they were busy, I’d understand, but there were at least 5 waitstaff just standing around. The only positive was the dessert, which happened to be really good. Also, if you are wondering, we didn’t receive it for free because of a birthday. That’s fine but it would have been nice.
Overall, it was a disappointment and I regret choosing this place. Maybe if you love fancy cocktails and you don’t care about the food, it’s more enjoyable. Reading back over the negative reviews, my guess is that the owner’s response to this one will be defensive and over explanatory, so I won’t bother to read it; but hey, maybe it will help you.

My husband’s 60th surprise birthday party/dinner at Hotel Cashiers was amazing thanks to the help, support and awesome food & drink offered by the hotel’s owner Daniel, Chef Kelly and the entire staff. 70 guests from all over the country were so impressed with what our “little village” had to offer in Hotel Cashiers kitchen+bar. Not a single detail was missed and they made it so easy that I was able to enjoy the evening as a guest! Definitely the perfect place for dinner, a drink at the bar or a special event!

We were seriously disappointed, based on the positive online reviews… our half chicken entrees were partially raw (dark meat) and bloody inside. Both of them; we each ordered the same entree… Sad, but true… No surprise the restaurant empty. We paid for our wine; the rest was comp’d, & we were offered a “free” dessert, which we turned down. Too disgusted by the raw chicken.
