Checked out this place with one of my coworkers during our lunch break. Definitely has the Barrio Logan feel when you see the exterior and inside it has a lot of 90’s nicknacks which build it’s unique character. For food I ordered a Cheeseburger (lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, house 1000 island) and Jimi Fries (American Cheese, House 1000 Island and grilled onion). The things I enjoyed the most was the Grilled Onion’s. Overall this goes toe to toe with In-N-Out and this place is fantastic. A bit pricey but nice to support local businesses.

My husband and I fell in love with this place!Jose the owner, and even the other guests, made the experience so memorable. The art on the walls was engaging. The atmosphere was homey and friendly. The fries were fresh, and the hamburgers were like I make at home when I really care about who I am making them for.

No surprise why this is one of San Diego’s best burger places. Highly recommend the burger. The fries were just okay. But the burger was perfection!

Big flavors! Will be back soon!
The crew at Hayes Burger were friendly, respectful, and provided 5 star service.
My initial thought was that In-N-Out but with a more home made taste (mom and pop, small business quality type of food)
I really like their fries — I got the ones with the chopped chilies in it.
The burger was flavorful, structured pretty well, with a decent sized patty.
They also have these cool mushroom chairs up front and has extra seatings on the side near the freeway.

This is one of the places that follows the principle of doing one thing and doing that really really well. You get a burger and fries. That’s it. And it’s fantastic. The best combo I can remember. Loved the low key energy and friendly staff. Couldn’t recommend more

Stopped by Hayes Burger last night and loved it. Hayes is a small business that deserves more attention in my opinion. A helpful young man helped us right as we walked in. They have a simple menu of cheeseburgers or grilled cheese and fries. The burgers are absolutely delicious and, as the menu says, smashed to perfection. Fries are crispy and delicious and you can have them with regular or spicy ketchup. Hayes has a few stools and countertop inside and several tables available outside to eat at. Parking is strictly on the street and can be somewhat difficult at times. I highly recommend trying them and am looking forward to going back soon.

This is my second time here in over a year, and I have to say I love the service and specially the food I ordered a double cheeseburger a hamburger two fries and two drinks it cost me $42. I know some of you will Say (T.G.D.M.) but believe me is very well worth it the burgers are so soft they practically melt in your mouth ☺️ the fries are so full of flavor I couldn’t stop eating them and I dint want to stop. Since I’m from Los Angeles I can’t come here often but I will make this my to go place anytime I’m in the area.

If you’re looking for a fantastic burger spot in San Diego, I highly recommend Hayes Burgers. They specialize in smash burgers, and they do them right—crispy edges, juicy centers, and packed with flavor. Some of their creations give off an In-N-Out animal-style vibe, especially the Jimi Fries, which come loaded with grilled onions, cheese, and Thousand Island dressing.
The spot has a cool, hipster feel with a young, laid-back crowd. Seating is pretty limited—just a few spots inside and a small patio that’s basically on the sidewalk—so it feels more like a place to grab your burger to go since all the seats might be taken. It’s counter service only, so there are no waiters—just order at the counter and wait for your food. Prices are reasonable, and it’s just a short distance from the vibrant murals near Chicano Park, making it a great stop if you’re in the area. Just keep in mind that parking is street parking only, so depending on the time of day, you might have to walk a bit.
If you love a great burger, put this place on your list. You won’t be disappointed!
