We had a great experience at Hayashi291 and left very satisfied. We ordered Spicy edamame, Mixed Sashimi, Karaage, Agedashi tofu for entrees.
For mains, we chose Mix nigiri and Katsu Curry.
For any Japanese craving a taste of home, I would recommend this place. The service and speed of delivery are pretty spot on and the atmosphere is cosy and comforting. Everything is reasonably priced and served in a fair portion.
Huge plus, BYO !!!

Stunning, cute little spot in Richmond with a cosy, homey vibe and exceptionally friendly staff. We absolutely loved their ramen, which was full of flavour and beautifully presented. The whole atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, the kind of place you want to come back to.
It does tend to get quite busy, so an earlier booking is probably a good idea if you want to avoid the rush.
Overall, a delightful experience and highly recommended.

Hayashi291 is a great Japanese restaurant that offers probably the widest menu in the area covering all the best bits. There’s Sushi, Katsu, curries, Udon noodles, ramen and more with all the options too from Pork, Prawn, Tofu, chicken etc. service is quick, food is great value and decent serves. Good drinks list and plenty of space to dine in and enjoy your night.

Amazing experience! The teriyaki chicken and chicken katsu curry were absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. On top of that, the service was superb: friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Brilliant food, delicately and freshly made. Some of the best gyoze I’ve ever had. New local favourite.

it’s super clean to be honest, the lady was super sweet and nice. Had the Karaage curry, served with rice and a bowl of miso soup, the chicken are pretty crunchy but not as original. Doesn’t tase much of the ginger like it should. Hayashi raman was served in a big bowl, slow cooked pork was pretty tender, flavour was pretty good. Soup was alright, not super hot.

We got Kimchi Cheese Nabe, kaarage curry, takowasa and bara chirashi. Great food.
Takowasa super fresh, not watery or smell.
Chirashi was phenomenal. I enjoyed it very much. Nabe does not come with rice. So remember to get rice.

The menu is extensive. But don’t expect anything mind blowing. Food is alright. With best value being the sets. Seems that this restaurant caters mainly to food delivery services as you will notice if you dine in here. Having said that, be prepared to be waiting a little. As there is only one staff on the floor.

Look, straight to the point. The environment is nice and quite, spacious and roomy. However the food is terrible, I’m a big fan of Japanese restaurant, been eating Japanese food for more than 20 years, the sashimi here is super unfresh with that really fishy yuck smell, bitter and sour, just no words. If you wanna get food poisoning, this is place you can headed. Hot food are very very standard. Although the service is nice.

Nice Japanese restaurant.
The service is a little slow and when we were there only 2 other tables were occupied so there’s no excuse.
The meal was good though I left wanting more of the salmon don. Would’ve loved a couple more sashimi pieces and a little more rice.
However, was upset to find out that the soy sauce contained alcohol. I have a mild allergy and only found out at the end when I was fiddling with it. I think it must be made known to customers either my mouth or a label that it contains alcohol.
Might return in the future.
