Asian approved!! Good sushi for the area. Their version of spicy mayo is spicy and good too!

As a foodie, who has traveled from coast to coast, I must say that I was very disappointed with our visit.

Atmosphere: We had reservations, and were taken to the wrong table. Then we had to be moved to another room with another table. By the website, we assumed we would be in a semi elegant eating room, but it ended up being the kids room. There was a huge TV on the wall playing kids shows. Yes, we had an infant with us, but this made the environment very kiddie and less “nice” if that makes sense.

Service: Our server visited us one time and never brought refills. I had to go up to the front to find her and she was behind the bar talking. She filled my drink and brought it to me and it was Dr. Pepper. I absolutely cannot have sugar, and am on a medicine that makes me deathly sick if I have sugar with it. So I took it back up and another server brought me the correct drink. After that we never saw our server again. The chef was great and had great showmanshio, but didn’t know enough English to answer basic questions or food requests. I received undercooked scallops and undercooked shrimp. The food was not seasoned well and we had to add tons of stuff to it to make it taste good. I ordered filet, shrimp, and scallop hibachi. We spent an obscene amount of money tonight to only receive poor service, undercooked seafood, and a very kiddie like environment.

The three of us ordered dessert and I got the cookie butter banana pie. It was not good at all, and was pretty much served in a messy melted heap on my plate with zero presentation effort.

This was our first impression of this place and it was not great. We still left a tip for both the server and chef, but the server really didn’t work our table enough to justify how much we tipped her.

I went on a friday night around 9:30 for a pick up order and the person working the register was rude and didn’t acknowledge me. No greeting from her and went back to her conversation with another worker (her coworker was attentive) and proceeded to get on her phone. The food was delicious, the service was not great.

Sushi was great and the fish tasted very fresh.

The sake was a bit strong and not really to my liking.

I would definitely go back and would like to try some of the other options they have on the menu.

The scenery is very inviting and nice to look at.

We just ordered the hibachi filet mignon and shrimp from Hayashi for delivery. While the taste of the food was excellent—flavorful and well-prepared—the portion sizes were extremely disappointing. The meat and rice servings were very small, with only a few bites of filet mignon and a tiny container of rice.

However, I’d like to highlight that when we dine in at the restaurant, the portions are much larger and feel worth the price. It seems there’s a big inconsistency between the dine-in and delivery experiences. I hope the restaurant considers improving the portion sizes for online orders to match the dine-in quality.

Taste: 5/5
Portion size for delivery: 2/5
Overall: 3

We arrived for dinner and the front counter person didn’t know what happy hour was when asked if it was happy hour. We got seated at the hibachi table and were told if two people weren’t ordering hibachi then the chef wouldn’t come out to cook for us. They said gas costs too much to cook at that table for only 1 person since 1 of us was ordering a bento box. Explained to the person at the front after asking for the manager and they said same thing gas is too expensive…doesn’t gas cost the same amount in the back? I guess they’d rather lose two sales than cook and dirty a table. This was Sunday at 430 and it was a ghost town. The server wasn’t expecting anyone else to show up to eat. I guess that tells you how good the food is.

Disappointing experience at Hayashi Japanese Steakhouse in Midland, TX. The restaurant has a lot of room for improvement.

First off, my Teriyaki Shrimp came on a large bed of steamed broccoli and onion slices instead of the advertised vegetables is unacceptable. Not only did they fail to deliver what was promised, but the lack of variety in the dish is disappointing. Furthermore, the fact that the mud veins had not been removed from the shrimp shows a lack of attention to detail and quality control in the kitchen.

To add insult to injury, the fried rice I ordered was devoid of vegetables, which is a standard component of the dish. It’s hard to believe that a restaurant that claims to serve Japanese cuisine would overlook such a fundamental aspect of their menu item. Believe it or not, when we received the bill, we were charged EXTRA for the rice. Unbelievable.

Overall, my experience at Hayashi Japanese Steakhouse was shamed. Their kitchen staff is lazy. The quality of their dishes is disgusting. This restaurant falls short of expectations.
