Reviews
Another 10 minutes went by after we had completely finished our meal and the food still had not arrived, so I finally flagged her down and told her I did not want it anymore. She was completely dismissive and made absolutely no effort to make the situation right. I would understand if the restaurant was busy, but there were empty tables everywhere. I have actually had this specific server before and had the same bad experience, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt at the time because it was a dinner rush.
My advice to management is to either have a serious conversation with this server or let her go. Based on other reviews I have seen, she is clearly hurting your business. I certainly will not be coming back as long as she is there and I will make sure no one in my circle comes back either. When you go out for a meal, you are paying for the overall experience and not just the food. I did not catch her name, but she is the one who crouches down whenever she takes an order. If you get this server, just know she will not come back to your table until you are ready for the check.
The menu can be a little confusing to read- it’s a lot of unique dishes (to the average American) and the way it’s divided is different.
Most of what we tried was pretty good. The bao buns were the one disappointing- the bread was good, sweet and puffy like it should be but had nowhere near enough filling.
The service is decent and you can sit at the bar or outside. It’s a great and reasonably priced option in downtown St. Pete.
We specifically came for the rice dishes, only to be told that there was no rice available — which was quite surprising. Unfortunately, the server’s response felt dismissive, almost as if to say, “So, what are you going to do?” There was no effort to explain the situation or offer helpful alternatives.
The timing of the food service was also disappointing. One plate arrived after about eight minutes, the appetizer came roughly ten minutes later, and the second entrée arrived another ten minutes after that. As a result, we ended up eating separately because the dishes did not come out together. When the food finally arrived, it was only lukewarm, which took away from the overall experience.
I understand that working in the service industry can be challenging, and I do not intend to judge anyone personally. However, if you commit to a role, there should at least be a visible effort to provide attentive and professional service.
In conclusion, the food was average, but the customer service was unfortunately very poor. I say this respectfully, but honesty is important.
