Inspired by the flavours and vibrancy of South East Asian street food and hawker markets, Harry’s is an expression of love in food form for a region and people we’ve come to greatly admire and respect. Harry’s Hawker House is a place where fresh flavours and local ingredients are matched with regional wines and beer. But to really kick the evening off, start with some sparkling sake or one of our cocktails, inspired by Old Shanghai and Singapore, with fresh, seasonal fruit. There are three dining options – the raised Chef’s Dining area and Chef’s Dining Room. Both can be booked (sittings at 6pm and 8pm – groups please enquire). The rest of the space is real Hawker-style – no reservations and casual is the name of the game.

Hawker House was one of the absolute culinary highlights of our five‑week stay in the region. We were so impressed by both the staff and the food on our first visit that we returned the following week with a group of seven. That gave us the chance to sample a much wider range of the menu, and every single dish was outstanding.
The standouts for us were the nigiri, sashimi, and the roasted cauliflower—each beautifully prepared and full of flavour. And for people who don’t usually order dessert, the Salted Dark Chocolate Miso with honeycomb was unforgettable. Truly to die for.

An amazing place to have dinner in Nelson. The seating options vary from being able to sit on the bar with view to the open kitchen, to high chair tables or outside seating. With its sharing concept it’s perfect for groups or people that like to try different foods. The food is very delicious, there are several options to choose from. We especially enjoyed the lamb, which was perfectly prepared. We had an amazing time trying a lot of delicious food and will be back next time we are in town!

My husband and I, together with close friends, visited Hawker House and had an absolutely wonderful evening.
We enjoyed a fantastic dinner where we shared several different small dishes, and every single one was delicious.
The ribs were outstanding — without a doubt the best ribs I have ever had. The dumplings, the lamb, and the sashimi were equally amazing; everything was so tender and full of flavor, it simply melted in the mouth.
We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant — you will not regret a visit.

I was in Nelson on business and dined both nights at Hawker House.
Ricky and the team really work amazing favours into everything they prepare.
They were very amiable at modifying the dishes for my ceoliac condition and where possible changed the sauces without loosing any of the tastes.
I’d highly recommend, whether you are dining with friends or by yourself.
Sit at the bar with the view into the kitchen and watch the experts work their magic. Amazing dinner and a show.

We booked beforehand and informed that we’re having a kid with nut & seafood allergy and a young adult with chili allergy.
When we’ve been brought to the table, the waitress already had a menu with all dishes highlighted that can be consumed for the dietary requirements. That’s something I’ve never experienced anywhere that we’ve dined.
The care and knowledge, especially since we brought the kids with their allergens, was outstanding.
The food was just outstanding.
We will 1000% come back.

Believe the hype! This is a real Nelson fan favourite and I can understand why. Lovely fresh flavours and interesting combinations. I was worried the food would be too spicy for my taste but need not have been. Nothing was too over the top and they were very happy to accommodate. Great, friendly service – this is a well oiled machine with a great personality.
