The burnt ends were spot on — perfectly cooked with that rich, smoky flavor and just the right amount of bark. The ribs absolutely delivered on flavor, tender and satisfying without falling apart. And the brisket met every expectation — juicy, flavorful, and done right.
The mac and cheese was a little different from our last visits, but we still enjoyed it overall. It’s nice to see a place keep things interesting while staying true to what they do best.
Hawg Jaw continues to be a solid go-to for quality BBQ. We’ll definitely be back.
We tried a great spread: brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, and the Irish Hawg sandwich, plus sides of beans, onion rings, and slaw. The brisket was tender and smoky with a beautiful bark, while the burnt ends were rich, caramelized, and packed with flavor—the kind you hope for when ordering in KC. The pulled pork was juicy and well-seasoned, perfect on its own or with sauce.
The Irish Hawg sandwich was a standout—hearty, creative, and loaded with flavor, making it a must-order if you want something a little different. On the side, the beans were savory and comforting, the onion rings were crisp and golden, and the slaw added a nice, fresh contrast to the smoked meats.
Hawg Jaw delivers everything you want from a top-tier Kansas City barbecue spot: great meat, solid sides, and bold flavors. If you’re craving true KC BBQ, this place belongs at the top of your list.
The BBQ here is top notch! The burnt ends are some of the best I have ever had. The chicken was beautifully smoked with a crisp skin. I am also very fond of the fall off the bone ribs.
Sides included a burnt ends chilie, that is even better than it sounds, and a cheese corn that was creamy and delicious.
I also tried the BBQ rangoon. It was different but not in a bad way.
Eight years ago, I used to stop at this place—and not much has changed. Still delicious food and the same friendly staff. A true hidden gem that stands the test of time.” This time, I had the Hawg Trough Sampler—and it didn’t disappoint. Perfectly smoked, full of flavor, and generously portioned. If you’re in KC and craving real barbecue, this spot is absolutely worth it!
