If you are staying in Chincoteague and are craving a sandwich or something savory to eat, do yourself a favor and stop by Having A Meltdown. You will get an absolutely loaded grilled cheese, with many different variations available. They have come about as close to perfecting the grilled cheese as any place I’ve been before. Their homemade lemonades are also fantastic.

The Rancher: chicken
Bacon ranch cheddar 4/5: cheesiest melt I’ve ever had. It tasted kind of like pizza with ranch. Bread was toasted well. the chicken blended in and didn’t stand out. The only reason it’s a 4.

Blueberry lemonade (seasonal) 5/5: they made the blueberry sweet, but not too sweet! with an undertone of lemonade citrus flavor.

It was a food truck kind of store

Large portions of melty deliciousness! Found this place less than one block off of the main highway leading to Chincoteague Island! A stationary food truck where everything is made fresh to order. Be sure to bring your appetites because these sandwiches are no joke! Flavors were fantastic! Kids and adults approved

My boyfriend and I were a little skeptical of trying, last time I had it was when they first opened and I wasn’t much of a fan. I’m so glad we tried it this time!! I had the oodles of noodles along with the loaded fries while my boyfriend had the Philly and the loaded fries as well. I can’t have bacon so they put what would’ve been on mine on my boyfriends and we loved it! Would come there just for the fries. The oodles of noodles was really good, I tried my boyfriends Philly and wasn’t a fan but he liked it a lot. Will definitely go there to try different stuff! And not to mention, the cherry cheesecake was the best part!! Huge slice

There was no shortage of cheese in the melts but it was very plain and monotonous tasting. Out of waffle fries, no salt/pepper seasoning, no ketchup, extremely slow service with few customers.

I adore this place. I was delighted to see that this was open off season. I had the Phat Philly (without peppers) and it was so yummy. My sister had the Honey I’m Ham equally delicious. Of course I had to have the strawberry lemonade. The chef/ owner was so sweet and friendly. Highly recommend!!

Caught a glimpse of the menu while out on a bike ride and voted to come for lunch the next day. We missed it but vowed to make the stop the following day and with zero regrets. Amazing menu choices from such a compact food truck you would barely believe the sizes of the melts. Unique combinations so much that we had a good 15 minutes deciding. Son got the last crab melt in stock while the rest of us tackled various melts. I had chicken on mine was not expecting what seemed like a half of a whole on mine . Great flavor and also suggest the lemonade served in a healthy pint container absolutely perfect thirst quencher. we even had enough to wrap half up for later. Seems to be a mother son duo possibly and what an amazing job kudos we will definitely be back

Gourmet grilled cheese and quesadillas. Had the crab grilled cheese and the four cheese grilled cheese. Both were awesome. Thanks

The concept is solid and portions are generous, but the overall experience didn’t quite match the price point. After ordering, I was told there would be a 30–45 minute wait — it ended up taking over an hour.

The food looked great at first glance, but the textures were off. Some items were too soft and difficult to handle, while the meat wasn’t easy to bite through, making it a challenge to enjoy. For the cost, I expected better consistency and more attention to detail.

Hope to see improvements — it has potential.

I understand that everything is made fresh, and I appreciate that — but it would’ve been helpful to know the wait time before paying. Being told it would be 30–45 minutes after ordering, then waiting over an hour, definitely affected the experience. I really hope you can find a better system to communicate wait times upfront — the food has potential, but the timing and texture issues made it hard to enjoy this visit.

Absolutely delicious! We came to get lunch and the food was worth every minute we waited. The waffle fries were nice and crispy, we had the melt with lump crab meat and it was SO cheesy and full of crab. The lemonades were huge and so so good. We would definitely go back, some of our favorite food of the week on the island.
