We had butter chicken, matter paneer, chicken kabab, samosas, mango lassi, aloo gobi, rice, and naan. All the food was absolutely delicious and my coworkers were raving about it during and after the party!
The food was delivered on time and hot and ready to eat. We were more than satisfied with their service and would highly recommend them for any catering services. 🙂
The menu revolves around shareable thalis, available in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, beautifully plated with an array of vibrant, flavorful dishes.
The food is authentic, bold, and hearty – true to the roots of Punjabi cuisine. Even the buttermilk (chaas) & desserts feel straight out of a village kitchen.
But what really sets this place apart is the ambiance – the music, the cot-style seating, the copperware. It’s immersive, nostalgic, and refreshingly real.
If you’re looking to go beyond just eating and actually experience North India, this spot is a must.
Starting Saturday 26th April for lunch
The ambiance was great — we were seated right away, the restaurant was calm and quiet, and we truly loved the decor. However, that was where the positives ended.
Despite the restaurant not being busy, it took about 40 minutes for our food to start arriving. For the prices charged, the portion sizes were quite small. One of our starters, dahi bhalla, was especially disappointing — it came with only two bhallas and about four small scoops of dahi, making it very dry. When we asked for more dahi, we were given a small bowl of plain yogurt, not the whipped yogurt with chutneys that is typically part of dahi bhalla.
The malai kofta was hard, lacking the soft texture you’d expect. To make matters worse, we then waited over 35 minutes for dessert, which consisted of brownie with ice cream and khoa kulfi. The brownie tasted and looked like it was store-bought (similar to Costco), and the kulfi was a tiny portion, topped with chocolate drizzle, with no noticeable hint of khoa at all.
Adding to the disappointment, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill, which felt unjustified given the slow service and food quality. We ended up spending ~$40 per person which is way too much for this kind of restaurant.
This was our second visit, and unfortunately, it will likely be our last. We felt particularly embarrassed hosting our parents, who were visiting from India, and were unpleasantly surprised by both the food and service at an Indian restaurant in the Bay Area.
Overall, a very underwhelming experience that did not live up to expectations.
Portion sizes are generous and prices are reasonable for the quality. The naan and roti come out hot and pair perfectly with the gravies. The ambiance is simple but comfortable, suitable for families and casual dining.
To top it all off, the Indian-style chai, served in glasses with a nostalgic caddy, transported us back to fond memories. If you’re craving Indian food with great taste in a relaxed setting, I highly recommend Haveli. It’s a gem of a place that will leave you thoroughly satisfied!
The chutney was outstanding, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. The staff were quick, attentive, and served everything fresh without compromising on quality or taste.
Haveli Kabab & Grill is definitely one of the best spots for authentic, flavorful, and perfectly spiced dishes. Highly recommended for anyone who loves great food and great service!
