The lady at the cashier is AMAZING as well as her daughter. Their sense of organization and great customer service combine is off the charts.
The food was good and filling.
Only the lady with the gold chains cleaning the tables and staring at the customers until the left, felt pushy. Like rushing us out. Taking a star off for her.
Everything else perfecto!

My husband and I go on little lunch dates frequently. Like a food tour of the ATL metropolis. This restaurant was near an appointment we had and absolutely did not disappoint. We had the Cuban sandwich it was toasted perfectly and the rice and beans were wonderful. The bill for us both was about 50 bucks with the full sandwich of which we both tool half of it home. Of the empanadas the beef is my preference.

Havana Sandwich Shop at 2905 Buford Hwy NE has been my go-to for decades, and it’s no surprise why this Cuban gem has thrived since 1976.
Founded by Guido and Felisa Benedit, it kicked off Atlanta’s love affair with Cuban cuisine as the first immigrant-owned spot on Buford Highway. Despite a devastating 2008 fire and personal losses, Debbie and Eddie Jr. kept the legacy alive, rebuilding at the original location in 2015.
The pressed Cuban sandwiches are pure perfection – crispy, savory, and packed with flavor – but the black beans and yellow rice? Hands-down the best in Atlanta. The service is as authentic as the recipes, warm and consistent, making every visit feel like home.
This place is a Buford Highway legend, still shining in a corridor now famous for global eats. Highly recommend!

This hole in the wall Cuban place is surprisingly awesome. The authenticity of the food is second to none. The food is prepared fresh on site. The portion is generous. We had the steak sandwich and Cuban sandwich with fried yucas and plantain. They gave so much meat in the sandwiches. The Cuban coffee is also spot on with right amount of sweetness and creaminess. Can’t wait to come back. Plenty of parking all around the building. Staff were friendly.

I’m from Miami and grew up on authentic Cuban food, so I know how it’s supposed to taste. All I ordered here was a colada and pan tostada, and honestly, it didn’t hit. The flavor just wasn’t there like I’m used to back home. The only thing this place really has going for it is the atmosphere. If you’re looking for truly authentic Cuban food, this is not the place overall is was mid.

This is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall cuban restaurant. I’ve been coming here since the mid-80’s. The absolute best Cuban sandwich anywhere in Metro Atlanta. Ranks with the Panaderías in Puerto Rico and Miami.

Havana Sandwich Shop never disappoints! The food was excellent and came out quickly. I had the full Cuban sandwich combo with yellow rice and black beans. I was a little surprised at the red sauce on the rice but it was delicious. Also ordered yuca con mojo! One of my faves! Give it a try – if you’re not a huge fan of onions ask them to hold the onions or light onions. ¡Buen provecho!

Very good Cuban pork sandwich’s highly recommend. We had the Cuban with a side of black beans and yellow rice. We also had manduros which I love. I had a passion fruit soda. Rob had a coke. For dessert we had one mango and one guava shake excellent. You should check it out. They have been written up in Southern Living Magazine and were featured in the Creative Loafing in 1998. I was told about this place from friends who said they had great Cuban sandwiches thirty years ago.

I love a good Cuban sandwich and Havana’s has it all – thin, fresh bread, juicy, tender pork, good ratio of pickles and mustard, the right amount of cheese, and table side containers of mojo to ramp up the flavor on every bite.
The black beans and rice on the side were excellent as well, and you better bet I doused them in the mojo sauce as well.
Add on that it’s a family-run spot and you can see why it’s been a BuHi staple for decades.
