I’m not a five star person but this place is fabulous. The food was just spot on. My hub raved the whole time he was eating his Cuban chicken and waffles. I tried the benedict with the twist of no meat. Delectable! We ended up here because I wanted a bloody Mary with my brunch and apparently that’s hard to find. The staff were awesome, super helpful and nice. Bonus: great view for people watching the plaza. Loved the whole experience. Make sure to support this phenomenal and unique restaurant.

Food was good. The eggplant dish was great and flavorful. The chile relleno was lacking in flavor and way sweet for my liking (looked beautiful tho). But overall the experience was good.

We came on a Friday at 6pm and immediately got a table with an amazing view of the plaza! I had their holiday drink for Juneteenth which was amazing with the hibiscus and mint. My husband got two appetizers instead of a main course, so he had the california chicken and the tostones rellenos. They were amazing! The chicken had the best creamy sauce that was packed full of flavor. I had the garlic shrimp and would definitely get this dish again! Even licked my plate clean it was so good. Definitely would come back for the california chicken appetizer! The staff was super friendly and kept our water filled and quick service!

The food is very good, on this trip we just tried several of the appetizers. Fresh and flavorful. They have a good menu offering, something for everyone. The service was ok, but for a new restaurant it was good. I try not to judge a new restaurant on service because they are figuring it out still and they will. Because of the quick turn over from Plaza grill I assumed there would not be much change to the atmosphere, they made some changes to represent the Cuban flare but it still feels like Plaza Grill and I hope they have plans on making more changes to make it feel like Havana. Some though, may appreciate the nostalgia. I was happy to see they were busy. Overall, I would recommend trying Havana and I’m looking forward to trying more of the menu. I hear the cocktails are very good and I’m excited to come back and try some!
Update 3-17-25- I came here agin for dinner and was bummed to see the menu had changed quite a but, I was very excited for the cucumber/papaya salad that is now only available at brunch. I do like that the dining room is now at the front of the building with the view of the plaza. I will come back for brunch for my salad. This time i got the fish of the day, it was good.

I went for brunch the food was really good. The atmosphere is awesome. The sauces were so good, something special you cannot get any where in Humboldt. I heard this place is going to get better I can’t wait to see what else they cook up. Their menu was very informative I knew what I was getting. I will definitely be coming back. I can’t say enough good things about this place, I will be coming back.

I like this place as a venue, and it’s a boon for the music and arts community. The shows here that they throw are awesome and i keep waiting for them to partner up with the Basement for some sick Jacoby takeovers. However, 7 dollars for a white claw is absurd and that means I’d rather just keep a bottle stashed in my car. It doesn’t help that the last time i was rhere the bartender shorted me 2 dollars on one such claw.

We enjoyed a delicious meal of cuban treats on Monday night! From the drinks to the malanga fritters to the maduros (sweet fried plantains), everything was delicious. I had the soup which was the perfect texture and tastiness. My friends had the special with potk and the chili relleno and loved theirs too! Another night on my trip I tried the flan. It was smooth and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. I added maduros, well, because I could :). For more atmosphere, try the bar area. Lots of fun music options throughout the week. Highly recommend.

My partner and I just tried Havana in Arcata for the first time, and it completely blew us away. The atmosphere was lovely without being stuffy, with a beautiful wall of picture windows out over Arcata Plaza. Their fried plantains were the best I’ve ever had, shaved super thin for perfect texture and crunch. The fish was cooked so well we didn’t even add the sauce. The cinnamon-sugar Cuban bread in the torrejas dessert was cut thick so the center turned into bread pudding when it was fried. The smoked old fashioned was soul-warming and served with a dramatic tableside flourish. The service was all-around amazing—my partner dropped his fork at one point, and a server materialized at our table in seconds with fresh silverware. The woman who seated us told us she came up from the Bay Area about a year ago to run the restaurant. We feel very lucky to have her bringing world-class dining to our small town!

The atmosphere at Havana and the view overlooking the plaza provides a glimpse of Arcata night life and a modern ambiance with a menu of amazing Cuban dishes to choose from. Luna is an amazing waitress! She makes sure we are taken care of every time we dine here. Love this place!
