Today, we visited Hattie B’s Hot Chicken in Memphis, and we were not disappointed. From placing our order to the moment our food hit the table, everything was smooth, fresh, and full of flavor.
I ordered the ½ chicken, which included a connected breast/wing and a thigh/leg, all served over a soft slice of bread with a pickle on top. My side was the seasoned fries—hot, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. The chicken itself was crunchy, flavorful, and impressively free of grease.
We also tried the Jumbo Wing Platter, which comes with three large wings and fries for $11.50, while my ½ chicken plate was $14.50. Both meals were fried to order, fresh, and piping hot—exactly what you want from a hot chicken spot.
We’ve visited several other well-known places, but Hattie B’s stands at the top by a wide margin. Even a customer ahead of us commented on how well-prepared the sides were.
Highly recommend. Definitely coming back.

Great food and service. The waiter with the big afro was really friendly and patient with us. I took off a point because my hubby fries weren’t hot and the wait was kinda long. The chicken was great, the lemonade makes Chick-fil-A’s lemonade taste like great value. I love this place.

Stopped in to lunch with my daughter. The service was good other than having only one person taking orders. The food was very good, I had the 3 wing (plain), baked beans and slaw. Atmosphere is good but I would recommend turning the music down a bit.

Hattie B’s is my absolute go-to whenever I visit Memphis. It’s reached a point where I can’t leave without stopping by. I always eat my fill and then order an extra meal to-go to take on the plane with me. It’s that good!

Ordered the mild chicken tenders, fantastic taste and great spice level for someone who’s not able to handle too much. The fries came out hot and tasty as well. Very clean inside and the service was great. It even has a section of outdoor seating and a bean bag toss. I will definitely be visiting again the next time I’m in Memphis, well done Hattie B’s!

Disappointed. Not at all like Nashville.
Prices keep going up and half chicken only comes with one side now. Sides have such a lower food cost compared to the chicken so why would you cheap out?
Chicken pieces were scrawny and not hot (temperature).

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is a pit stop for those who crave spicy fried chicken. My first order of boneless chicken tenders were limp, not crispy and rather tasteless. Not impressive, and would have stopped coming all together. But everyone else’s orders look red hot and crispy. So I knew there must have been an inconsistency. On my second visit, I knew better and ordered what everyone else got. Bingo! It was the best crispy fried chicken in town. I highly recommend the Bone-In Plates menu as they are freshly made to order and come out hot and crispy. You can ask for your order to be done extra crunchy. The mild hot sauce is also pretty tolerable and spices up the chicken with that oomph factor I didn’t know I needed. Hattie B is where it’s at!

I must say…the wings taste like they are from Jackson, Ms. I got the three wings with greens. The greens look like home grown greens but taste like canned greens. But the wings…yes. Got three whole wings mild and it was crispy and delicious. Will Be back for the chicken. And I will ask for more pickles. 2 wasn’t enough.

I absolutely enjoyed all the food. I ordered the Chicken Tenders with Pimento Mac & Cheese and Greens. I ordered and waited for my dine-in order. It took about 5-8 minutes before the food came out. The food was fresh and filling. The staff were also pretty chill and polite. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone wanting some good chicken. Definitely will be returning soon.
