Well, my experience was very different than everyone else’s.
I’ve never had Ukrainian food before and was excited to try it.
The girl behind the counter was nice but struggles with English a bit. So some issues with communication. Everything is served a la cart.
What I ended up getting were these beef tips with sauce over mash potatoes (I took a couple bites before I remembered to take a photo). And the European bread with farmer’s cheese.
Mash potatoes were nice & creamy, but the beef tips were very tough with a lot of gristle.
The European bread with cheese was very dry and impossible to eat without water, and the cheese was bland (and I LOVE cheese).
Pictured here is the half portion.
It’s a little hard to to figure the menu on the wall but the European bread was def marked as $3. I got charged $10 (which does match their online price).
$20 for the whole thing.

Great romanian/ukrainian food and european coffee. This is probably the highlight of our trip to Portland! The lady who served us was very nice and helpful. When I asked to get a sweet farmer cheese pie and they ran out of them, she offered to bake one just for us!

A very pleasant girl greeted us, she slightly mixed up our order, but they brought us our food later, and everything was very delicious, especially the pancakes with cottage cheese. I recommend it.

Tasty comfort food. The main courses are visible in a case. You can order as much of each as you want. I liked the ribs and the pork cutlets. The fruit tea with fresh orange slices was great as was my latte. Being able to order just what you want makes this a great value! Plus you can get more food items at the Ukrainian market next door.

Stopped in for a quick lunch today and was absolutely delighted. Wonderful lunch, food was great. Flavorful, not over spiced or salted, hot and fresh. Reminiscent of eating in grandmothers kitchen, rather than a restaurant. Will return next time I am in the area!! I cant tell you what I tried – because I dont know – but it was all really tasty.
