The food is ok for American standards but the service is rushed and rude! I made a 7pm reservation for 2 at the sushi bar last night and I arrived 30 mins earlier while my friend is running late due to work. However the host made me wait way beyond my reservation time while letting few walk ins in first because they won’t seat people unless all parties are there. Even when I told him I will order drinks. I approached him again after losing my patience and finally got seated as if he was doing me a ‘favor’ that is the exact term he used.

Long story short, my friend and I both ordered the 15pc omakase and a bottle of sake with a bill of total ~$400. I had to start the course first because the server was rushing me and the chefs were doing small talks behind the counter. Sure my friend was late, but I did ordered a bottle of sake and a starter, it was not like I am taking up 2 seats for nothing. My friend joined later near 8pm and we both felt the entire course was rushed, the chef was serving us 2-3 sushi’s at the same time so he can finish the job asap! What’s the point for omakase ?

At the end, the server neglected that there were 2 cards to split the bill and charged everything on one card because he wanted to kick us out asap so he had no time to do the math!

Worst service in NYC, even McDonald and burger kings have superior level of hospitality.

i tried hatsuhana and the sushi was not the freshest. thought it was a fluke and tried again, but again it was not the freshest. i was surprised that they chose to garnish the salmon sushi with lemon–it not only cured the fish but also seemed to mask the subpar freshness. tried some sushi a la carte and some where hits some were misses. they provide matcha tea (not just green tea) that is a lovely accompaniment to the meal.

It’s been a very long time since I’ve eaten here and the place has hardly changed. The sushi is still very good, the service still excellent, but the atmosphere feels a bit duller; the space definitely needs some updating.

The sushi was still very good, although the rice was a bit inconsistent; some parts of my sushi rice was a bit al dente. Excellent freshness, the ikura was nicely seasoned, the scallops and shrimp were incredibly tasty, as was the rest. The tuna was a bit less memorable, normally otoro is a bit more oily and buttery, but this cut wasn’t quite what I’d hoped.

Our waiter was very attentive, loved that he spoke Japanese; helped keep my dad using his native tongue which he hardly gets to do outside of home.

Overall this will always be a special place for me, memories of when I was a kid and my dad would bring back home sushi after long work days in the city. Still lives up to those memories and hopefully next time will be just as good if not better.

This is an outstanding sushi place. Everything is fresh with our choices. The green tea was refreshing and delicious. Great service, lovely place and good overall experience. Tip: upstairs is much nicer to sit. Make reservation.

Everything was fantastic! The chef was very friendly, but the staff seemed a bit rude, possibly because they were too busy. However, the sushi was the best I’ve ever had!

This was fresh, delicious, full service, mouth watering!! We just ordered a sushi platter. 10 different rolls. They picked it all for us! And not a single one was bad, I would say every bite I had was stellar!!!

It was amazing. The servers were the nicest, happiest people ever.

Ok SO busy on a 1pm on a Wednesday. Book a reservation.

For dessert, we got the mochi selection. Which was yum!

Historic sushi restaurant in NYC. The fish is always fresh and delicious. I recommend getting the Sushi Deluxe with a Yellowtail Scallion Roll. They can edit your dishes for allergies or preferences. They have gluten free soy sauce. Great price for the quality.

This was an AMAZING dinner experience. The service was so quick and efficient, the food was DELICIOUS. Highly highly recommend the yellowtail jalapeño appetizer. We each got the box of dreams and it was SO delicious and such a cool experience to taste so many different pieces of sushi and flavors. Everything, all the fish, was so fresh and tasty. Also HIGHLLYYYYY recommend the Dungeness crab roll. We got a second one because it was so good. Can’t wait to go back!

Posted late. Considering the Manhattan location, the sushi was very satisfying in terms of taste and price. The staff’s warm hospitality was also appreciated.

I can’t believe it took me this long to try this place—what a hidden gem. For the price, everything was excellent: the food, the service, all top-notch. The rice portions were small (in a good way), perfectly seasoned, and the fish was fresh and generously cut. Aside from the slightly worn interior and a tilted table that felt a bit odd, it was an outstanding sushi restaurant overall.
