The place is run by such sweet locals. The soba was perfectly cooked, the siumai and eel soba roll are must orders. Dumplings have an incredible flavour. Quiet spot but great ambience. The store keeper gave us oranges at the end! Highly recommend coming here for a nice izakaya dinner in Nozawa.

The food was so good. Ordered many little Japanese „tapas“. Also good for vegetarians. The place feels very local, and the service is amazing! Will definitely come back soon.

Very hospitable service and delicious, interesting food. The soba sushi with eel and egg was a dish I’ve never tried before (yummy). The dumplings covered in noodles were also really good. Very kind staff.

This place deserves higher rating. We only came here because our first choice izakaya was fully booked.
It’s about 10 mins walk from Nozawaonsen Village Center. Only has Japanese name and not easy to find on Google map. We walked passed a few days ago and was not impressed at the food photos displayed outside the shop. We decided to give it a try tonight and were not disappointed.
The Nozawana pork “siu mai” and soba seaweed roll with egg and eel were innovative and tasted pretty good. Karage done nicely. Can still taste the juicy chicken meat. Grilled salted mackerel was cooked just nice. All these with a big hot sake and one drafted beer for JPY6200!
And service is very good too. The part-time young waitress spoke very good English and gave good recommendations. The lady boss speaks Chinese. The owner himself was very friendly and gave all the guests free mixed nuts at the end of the meal. Nice gesture.
Restaurant is spacious. No crowd and especially no loud tourists. Great ambiance for a relaxing meal. It’s really nice Nozawaonsen still has such local traditional restaurants where we could just walk in.

This place had a wonderful welcoming atmosphere with delicious food run by a lovely elderly couple. Great for some authentic Japanese dishes that you might not find in other restaurants!! Highlights for us were the Soba Roll and the Nozawana Siu Mai.

We didn’t need to wait for a table either and were able to walk in.

Beautiful decor and excellent food options besides the usual udon and soba were a nice change. Eatery situated in a quaint street. Traditional Japanese seating option made the meal quite enjoyable.

We were the only customers and had a delightful evening. The old gentleman was pure class. We drank plum wine and whisky and filled up on the excellent meatballs.

INCREDIBLY SWEET STAFF, the place was almost empty as we went and the service was incredibly fast with delicious food. I highly recommend the chicken karaage (freshly fried) and horse sashimi as they cut against the grain and was insanely tender 🙂

Please consider visiting this establishment!!
