The pizza is always delicious. Staff is always friendly.

9/23 – The calzone with mushroom, onion and peppers was big enough for two and very tasty. The #9 pizza still excels but we prefer to eat it there. Chicken & veal parm grinders were good but there could have been more veal. Maybe they were almost out! Bustling Saturday.

Nov 22 – Every time we get their #9 Italiano pizza we can’t believe how good it is. Tops my list. Another fresh eggplant grinder but we added more sauce.

Jan 22 – the chicken cutlet grinder was hot and fresh with steam coming off each bite. The rolls used here are perfect. We tried the white Seafood Pizza with clams, shrimp and added bacon. It was okay. Looking forward to trying another.

Returned for another sampling of their delicious “Italiano” pizza and some wings on a cold autumn day. We love they had bottled Sassosa and White Birch in their beverage cooler. The eggplant grinder was better than others: fresh, not frozen, hot, and with a crispy roll.

Dining in, we ordered pizza, #9 “Italiano” with roasted peppers, sausage, pepperoni, fresh basil and mozzarella. Unbelievably good. We see we’ve clearly been missing out. The flavors in the first bite, and the second, the third…made our eyes roll back into our heads. My partner said eating his second slice, “this is a religious experience.”
Their crust is one of the best I’ve ever encountered and could write the review on this alone. Thin and crisp without being dry or bland, every crunch is savored. No ends left on any plates here. Outstanding cooking. We also ordered another veal parm and meatball grinder, both tasty as usual. Nice new stone veneer on the walls in place of the wood for a more modern look.

What’s better when you’ve been on the road on a hot summer day than to get a few grinders for dinner? Driving up Rte 8, deciding on a quick easy meal, we were nearing the exit that could bring us to H.P. A quick ride down the road and we ordered four whole grinders: one hot ham, a veal parmesan and chicken parmesan, and one buffalo chicken.
The ham grinder was packed with ham. Really good. The chicken parmesan was eaten entirely and received a strong thumbs up. The veal parmesan was well cooked, savory and loaded with moist breaded cutlets. The buffalo chicken we wouldn’t reorder. There wasn’t much meat and little blue cheese. Nevertheless, they have so many choices from grinders to dinners to pizza, we’ll be back. Great prices, too.

The Harwinton Pizza & Restaurant known to locals as “Lucky’s” has brought Italian food to this area for almost two decades. Having lunch there for the first time with our group of five, one a local, the Veal Parmesan was the standout grinder, and two turkey wraps with no cheese were a close second.
The Philly Steak & Cheese looked okay but lettuce isn’t usually an ingredient in this recipe. Still, our local enjoyed this sandwich but did go to the counter to ask for more sauce.
I leaned towards a tuna grinder but told the staff the mayo used makes or breaks a restaurant’s tuna for me. She was nice enough to bring me a taste. It was good with minced onion and celery so I ordered a half, hot with a toasted roll and provolone. They gave me a whole grinder, which I kept, and the bun was toasty and the cheese melted but the tuna was cold. Still enjoyable with tomato and shredded lettuce.
The Veal Parmesan grinder was fantastic. Meaty, toasty, flavorful sauce – definitely worth a quick exit off Route 8.
The turkey wrap was better than most as one of our group ate both halves and the other saved half. The wrap was nicely browned and didn’t have excess folds of dough at the bottom. Properly proportioned ingredient wise it didn’t need the cheese.
Dinner entrées are served, too. {menu in my photos} Take-out business had people coming in and out with pizza boxes. No alcoholic beverages served. Gluten free pizza available.
Is that not an insult?
Will be back again.
We got half pepperoni half Buffalo Chicken Ranch. It was so good. Sorry couldn’t get a picture of the full pie because as soon as it got to the table the kids couldn’t wait.
