In 1977, our family opened an old roadside motel restaurant in Aiken and aptly named it “Heart of Aiken Buffet”. The restaurant proved extremely popular and successful but it was limited in size and was quickly being outgrown. A larger building was not available at that time in Aiken but one was found on the Gordon Highway in Augusta, GA. Desperately wanting to expand the size of the business, the Aiken location was closed in 1978 and moved to Augusta. 40 years later, it still stands as a south side icon. Serving home cooked food in a clean, family atmosphere is the reason the Harvest Table Buffet has established itself as the place to dine in south Augusta. Great southern food buffet joint here. I liked just about how everything was made. I liked that they had gumbo, pulled pork. And all this other stuff. The older waitress with the glasses was nice also. I’d definitely come back here if I passed through

The chicken and dumplings were perfect. They had rutabagas, which was a pleasant surprise – they were amazing. The turnips were slightly sweet and I didn’t like that but it could be someone else’s preference.

Very friendly staff, clean, paper ware was a PLUS and their SWEET TEA WAS SOUTHERN GOOD!!! Here I found a nice variety of foods and desserts to choose from. Their staff was sure to restock fresh hot foods back on the bar. The only disturbing thing was the cold that was operating the ice cream machine… playing, instead of getting what she came for and returning to her seat. Also, it would have been nice to have bowls located by the hot foods for items like the thin grits… mine ran off my plate. Nevertheless, My first visit and II enjoyed better than Golden Corral.

Just made an unexpected parts run to Augusta and needed food. Passed this restaurant and it had a lot of cars always a good sign. Food was hot, good and plenty of choices – 5 meats, lots of veggies and desserts. The salad bar was well stocked it even had eggs for my salad something I haven’t seen on a bar for awhile. Atmosphere was friendly and though I was a little surprised with the price it was well worth it as the selection was great unlike some buffet bars who charge outrageous prices and have limited selection. Would definitely stop here again when in town.

The service was TRASH! The waitress kept walking past our table, had to get our own high chair, ended up get a totally different waitress to take our drink orders, and then to top it off, the good was HORRIBLE! And we were sooooo excited to finally try it after years of hearing “how good it is” well we were HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED, and we went this Sunday just left…. NEVER AGAIN! This was a total waste of $36!!!

This is an out-of-place restaurant that you have to be told about to know about it. It is not in the best part of town, but that being said it is the safest restaurant in town to eat at. When you go to eat here you always see several police officers eating. If you like old-fashioned Southern cooking this is the place for you. They have an all-you-can-eat buffet filled with homemade food. If you are ever on the south side of town you really should look this place up.

When I come visit home I always end up eating here. It’s like a magnet. Every meat here is fried and it’s not fried its in gravy. They have a great selection of southern food and desserts. Banana pudding is real its NOT banana flavored pudding. It’s great. One of favorite things about here is that that have a salad bar and have hard boiled eggs for salads. Yall they have real shredded with your hand off the block cheese! Not that bag stuff. Get that out of my face. Homemade ranch dressing. They have chicken wings, fried catfish, fried pork chops, chicken fingers, chicken liver in gravy and onions, smoked Turkey and like 2 more meats I cant remember. I mean who has fish and wings on the same bar for 11.99 a person! The veggies were limas, potatoes and brown gravy, sweet potato souffle with marshmallows, rhubarb, streamed cabbage, green beans, homemade mac and cheese, homemade potato salad, fried okra, corn I mean I could go on! service was good. Sweet tea is great. I mean you are going to literally eat til your sick! We always come back! Oh… and a plus the have Texas Pete on the table for your chicken!!
