Reviews
We went to Gun Lake Casino to celebrate a birthday and hoped for a special night. Unfortunately, we were never informed about how long we could stay, and we were asked to leave after about 2 hours to make room for another reservation at the buffet. This abrupt request was surprising and felt customer-unfriendly, especially since we spent over $700 during our visit.
What happened:
We planned a birthday celebration and chose Gun Lake Casino expecting a good experience.
We were not given any clear guidance on how long we could stay, specifically at the buffet.
After spending a substantial amount, we were asked to leave to accommodate a reservation at the buffet, with little notice.
Impact:
The abrupt timing cut our plans short and left us frustrated.
It diminished what should have been a memorable birthday celebration with friends and family.
Suggestions for improvement:
Clearly communicate any time limits or seating policies to guests, especially for celebrations and buffet seating.
Offer options to extend time or relocate within the venue if a reservation is imminent.
Provide staff training on how to communicate time-related needs politely and with advance notice.
Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations for a birthday celebration. I hope the casino takes this feedback into account to improve guest communications and ensure better experiences for future visitors.
The presentation was just as bad. Cooked food was left sitting in the same pans it was prepared in, with food dried and stuck to the sides, making it obvious it had been sitting for hours. The pizza was completely unacceptable. The bottom was charred solid black, not slightly overdone, but burnt to the point it was inedible.
The dessert station was equally disappointing. Nothing appeared to be freshly made. Everything looked store bought with very little variety or care. I had a small salad and a shot glass sized serving of vanilla pudding and that was it.
For the price, I would have much rather paid $60 per person at a restaurant with freshly made food, better presentation, and meals actually served at proper temperatures according to health department standards. Honestly, the health department should show up on a Saturday night when they are busy, because that is when these food holding and quality issues are clearly happening.
This buffet was not worth the cost and does not meet basic expectations for food quality, safety, or value
While the crab legs were a decent draw, nearly everything else fell flat — most of the food looked like it had been sitting out for hours, the dessert options were minimal, the ice cream was freezer burnt, and the brownies were dry and stale. To top it off, we found hair in some of our food, which is simply unacceptable.
The service didn’t help matters either. Our waitress checked on us only once the entire visit and never once refilled our drinks. For a buffet charging $70/person, you’d at least hope for attentive service to make up for the food quality.
Unless you can put away an enormous amount of crab legs, you will not get your money’s worth here. We really wanted to like it, but we’d strongly recommend exploring the other dining options at Gun Lake instead.
If you like that and peel and eat shrimp you will easily get your moneys worth.
Rest of the buffet could use some more love, buffalo wings were good but the american, asian, italian and mexican left a lot to be desired.
50.00 with a players card before tipping my server.
I had 6 plates, got my moneys worth for sure.
As a first timer coming here, I was impressed. The buffet is very clean and organized. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is great and they have a lot to choose from. The prices are great. especially for lunch.
I highly recommend this place

She went above and beyond! If you go to the Buffet, look for Cathy, she is amazing!
My partner and I had an amazing experience at Harvest Buffet in Gun Lake Casino, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a scrumptious crab-leg buffet. Despite our initial disappointment of not being able to secure a spot a few weeks ago, now, the extended timings and virtual waiting list made everything smooth and well-organized.
The 90 minutes time limit was perfect for us to enjoy the crabs, and the service was beyond excellent. For me, a first time crab eater it was a messy experience but we got enough napkins and even could have gotten get bibs. And everyone was messy, so we didn’t felt guilty.
The buffet had an extensive variety beside the seafood highlights, and all the food was well-prepared, especially the nutty butter. We appreciated the gentle reminder that our time was up, but we could finish without any pressure and indulge in desserts.
Overall, Harvest Buffet is a must-visit for all seafood lovers, and we can’t wait to go back again!
** Update.
Food quality down from my original post. Disappointed.
Worse is the price increase. We realize inflation is hitting all business, however, our bill for 2 people was $42 and today (7/1/2022) our bill was $118 for 4 people. This is a 40% increase in our bill. We won’t be returning anytime soon. The food costs for the business didn’t go up 40% and the quality didn’t either.
