I had an absolutely terrible experience at harumi sushi . The vegetable tempura was made from vegetables that were clearly not fresh — the sweet potato had discoloration and green spots that made it inedible. The sushi itself tasted extremely fishy, which is a clear sign that it wasn’t fresh either.
To make things worse, the deep-fried sushi rolls were literally dripping oil — not just greasy, but soaked and oozing with oil when picked up. I showed the waiter both the oily sushi and the poor-quality vegetables, explaining that they should never have been served in the first place. Despite that, we were still charged full price and no offer of compensation or apology was made.
It’s honestly shocking that food in this condition was being served to customers. If we worked for the Department of Health, this place would have been shut down on the spot.
Save your money and your stomach — there are far better sushi options out there.

How can you beat a six dollar classic roll. This place is so good that we cannot go anywhere else because we just end up disappointed. Our go to rolls are the sweet potato asparagus and Philly roll. The service is so fast that you can get in and out of there in 20 minutes.

EDIT October 2025 Harumi updated their tables and they are gorgeous and perfect!!!! Now, if they would just bring back the DELICIOUS ahi spicy crispy rice! We used to order at least 2 orders of this every time we dined there and I really miss it!! I have to go downtown to get my crispy ahi rice now, bummer as I live close to the Peoria location. This is our favorite sushi restaurant in all of AZ–and we’ve dined at a lot of them!

The restaurant is very modern looking with misty outdoor dining area. The bluefin selection is one of the best in the area. Love the Over the Rainbow roll, especially the seaweed salad that is separate and great to pair with the sushi.

Harumi stands at the top with the best sushi spots in all of Arizona. They’re absolutely unmatched in the North West. Not one of their sushi or nigiri options have even a hint of fishiness.
The wait staff is just as attentive as you’d want them to be. They’re not asking you questions while you’re chewing but your water will never be empty.

I love Harumi! The food is always delicious and this location in particular is my favorite because I don’t like being in Downtown Phoenix. I’ve only ever come here for the lunch specials (Mon-Fri, 11am-2pm, no holidays) because they’re so good and such a great deal! I usually get the L5 for a huge bowl of Udon with two half rolls from a selection of their specialty rolls. Pictured here is the Rainbow and Arizona rolls. All this for only $15 plus tip! It’s the perfect amount of food too. Atmosphere is lovely and the whole restaurant/facilities are really clean. Highly recommend!

By far our favorite sushi spot, we come here on a regular basis and get the OMG, Crab Mania, and Crunch mango! Joey is the BEST server and we look forward to seeing him when we dine in. They have an appetizer that is Crispy Spicy Tuna, sometimes Joey & the chefs will let us change it up and instead of Tuna we do Crab Salad! 10/10 our favorite appetizer and we wish it would be fully added to the menu!

Harumi was excellent! The Oh My God Roll was rich and savory with a perfect sear and crunchy topping that added great texture. The Hot Havana brought serious heat with fresh jalapeños and spicy sauce — a must if you love bold flavors. The H3 Roll was our favorite: the sweet mango, creamy avocado, and fresh fish made it super refreshing and well-balanced. The Tuna Tataki looked great but lacked flavor — a bit bland overall. Miso soup was too salty for our taste. Service was amazing — super attentive and genuinely friendly. We’ll definitely be back!
