This place has changed so much over the last 10 years! I remember the first time I went, it was like a to-go place, with their purple rice sushi rolls packaged for grab-and-go. The dining room was basic—a great, no-frills sushi place.

Wow, did this spot clean up! Same tasty sushi, with a new posh, luxe atmosphere. The pricing isn’t too bad, tho; however, it would be easy to rack up the bar tab with all their creative, delicious cocktails.

The matcha martini wasn’t sweet; it was earthy and nutty. It had a beautiful foamy texture.

We got a plethora of rolls and enjoyed them all. We got the combo of 3 half rolls, a great deal!

Their service was efficient and kind.

I’ll come back soon!

Walked in with a party of six without a reservation and were seated quickly, which set a great tone. The staff was genuinely welcoming, and Tony and crew were on top of everything—attentive without hovering and consistently checking in on us. The fish was exceptionally fresh, making this one of the top sushi experiences I’ve had in Phoenix. Prices are on the steep side, but the quality of the fish justifies it. The only downsides were the noise level and a longer-than-expected wait after placing our order, though the food was absolutely worth it in the end. Overall, a strong 4.5/5 and a spot I’d happily return to.

It was my first time here a few days ago with my family to celebrate my sisters birthday. Markell was our server and he was phenomenal. We were greeted instantly, he explained the menu to us and answered any questions we had. the food and drinks came out so fast, were so delicious and fresh. We were so impressed. To top it off, he took some great photos of us! thanks Harumi & Markell for giving us an amazing experience 🙂

Ate here on Valentine’s, and it was so dreamy! We were seated quickly and greeted by multiple kind waiters, who worked together seamlessly. Food was absolutely amazing and priced fairly. The hamachi carpaccio was delicious, and I especially loved the H3 & Mt. Fuji rolls. Will have to come back to try some of the others!
The drinks were interesting too!

Amazing atmosphere – dim, upscale, intimate. Great for a date night. Taste and flavors were good but nothing special tbh. Their unique purple rice sounds better than it tastes. Should stick to original sushi rice IMO.
OMG Roll has unique table presentation.

My family were visiting from out of town and we stopped by. I can honestly say it’s the best sushi experience I’ve ever had in my life.

Immediately, you’re greeted with a lovely atmosphere of cozy low lighting and fantastic decor that really helps you get into a luxurious mood.

After we were seated and ordered, constantly throughout the meal there was never more than a few minutes without a server walking by, even though we were seated outside. Anytime anyone at the table needed something, it was almost as if the staff could read our minds and preemptively send someone our way.

And now for the food, it was absolutely stellar! I’m quite the fan of sushi to begin with and have plenty of places back in California, but the food here truly raised the bar. We had a bit of everything, from salmon skin rolls to assorted sashimi and nigiri ranging from A5 wagyu to uni to toro. Absolutely nothing was less than fantastic, even for someone like me who prefers the more typical fish. Every piece of fish truly melted in the mouth.

I want to bring special attention to the tuna here; never before have I seen tuna with this striking red color, like a ruby plucked from sunken treasure. It speaks volumes about how fresh the fish must’ve been to be this color, and that emphasis on freshness likely extends to every item on the menu.

I can’t recommend this place enough! Bring all your loved ones if you’re ever in the mood for sushi. Bonus points for learning that it’s closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to give all the employees time with their family for the holidays.

Harumi is a understated phenomenal sushi restaurant.

We ordered a bunch. Standouts were:
-Oasis roll and sashimi (6) – $25
-hamachi carpaccio – $18
-toro nigiri – $14
-Sapporo beer – $6 / pint (amazing!)

Excellent service, lovely vibes and most importantly – high-quality fish.

Would strongly recommend you check his place out!

3.5 stars. We came here on a Friday night. They don’t do reservations from what I could see, so we just walked in. We had to wait around 10-15 mins to get seated. You can order drinks at the bar or ask them for a server to take your drinks order as you sit in the courtyard. They have an extensive cold sake selection. I don’t particularly enjoy cold sake, so I ordered a hot house sake. The others in the group ordered different cocktails, which were sake based. Once seated, our server was quite jolly, interactive and funny. The lighting in the restaurant is horrible, so be prepared to use your phone flashlight if you don’t have good vision to begin with. Ambiance wise, the restaurant has an upscale urban garden feel, but is all indoors. We ordered the Unagi roll, dynamite roll, hot havana roll, baby squid salad, Unagi nigiri, mushroom specialty nigiri, gyoza, blistered shishito peppers, super crunch shrimp roll.

The food was fine but not out of the world. In fact, my brother and I were very disappointed that their “spicy” dynamite and hot havana rolls were nowhere near spicy. They were just ok. The Unagi was also just ok. I’m a big fan of mushroom so I liked the mushroom specialty nigiri but the specialty nigiri didn’t feel too special. The baby squid salad was ok. The gyoza and the super crunch shrimp rolls were the best. These were both very very very good! The blistered shishito peppers were actually sweet which was a little weird. Usually they have at least a little kick. The wasabi was definitely not fresh because my brother and I could eat quite a bit of it without feeling much. We had green tea mochi for dessert, which was very good.

We paid a pretty penny for the whole meal and I don’t think it was worth that amount. It was decent food but not spectacular. I’m sure there are nicer hole in the wall places in Phoenix that have genuinely good sushi.

I liked the location of this restaurant in proximity to the arena. It was convenient for that. The restaurant is nice overall. We sat outside at night time and it was a bit chilly. The warming stations helped.

We ordered 5 different rolls. Unfortunately the rolls were all fairly mediocre. None of them stood out to me. But my entire party seemed to enjoy it. I don’t know if I would highly recommend the restaurant, but it was serviceable. The servers were prompt and attentive. So conder this if you need a bite before a show, but don’t think I would go out of my way to come here without a reason to be downtown.

Our evening was great!
Outstanding service, comfortable atmosphere and amazing food! I’d rank this as one of the best sushi spots I’ve tried.
Very interesting cocktails and a wide assortment of different sake.
Small bar area, both indoor and patio seating.

What I ate:
TRIO SAMPLER: choose three (half rolls)
* ARIZONA: spicy crab stick / shrimp tempura / crab salad / cream cheese / cucumber / avocado / eel sauce / panko crust
* DYNAMITE: spicy tuna / crab salad / cucumber / avocado / serrano / sriracha / spicy aioli eel sauce
* RAINDOW: bluefin tuna / salmon / crab salad / avocado / cucumber

SAKE – KUBOTA ‘SENJYU’, GINJO NIIGATA, JP: owner’s personal favorite. impeccable expression of niigata style of ‘tanrei karakuchi’ meaning crisp, earthy, elegant, clean like mineral water.

EIGHT FOLD PATH:
ki no bi gin, daiyame shochu, blanc vermouth, lichi-li liqueur lychee, botanical, subtle but boozy

My rating rationale
+1 Service
+1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality
+1 Presentation
+1 Atmosphere/vibe
+1 Value
