I’ve passed hearts chicken many times and I finally went in today. Made chicken I like the nice small chickens with the small breast and small wings instead of those ones. I’ve been put on steroids. I didn’t particularly care for the chicken. The vegetables are OK but I think they were canned so it would be hard not to be good. The coleslaw was plain but good and whatever I had for dessert wasn’t that bad will I come back probably not but I must say lots of the old people that were in there they sure liked it. They were eating it and it’s a buffet so they’re eating as much as they could.

Zero frills. You get a Styrofoam tray. Good comfort food, fast. Nothing flashy. I liked the baked chicken more than the fried.

Waited in the Drive-Thru for 30 minutes. Speaker box told me to wait and never got back on so I pulled up to the window to place my order. I ordered a 10-piece chicken strips and a large tater tots. My bill came up to $25! I was then asked to pull around to the front and wait another 15 minutes for my food. When the lady came out to deliver it she said “here” rolled her eyes, and handed me an oversized paper bag.
Once I got home and looked at the food that my $25 was able to get me I was highly disappointed! They’re chicken strips are the same overly salty chicken strip that they sell in most of the convenience stores and gas stations.

Down home country comfort food. You get what you pay for. All you can eat chicken, including fried chicken livers and gizzards, fish, country style green beans, turnip greens, cornbread, green salad, pea salad that tasted like canned peas, mashed potatoes and gravy, plus more sides. Dessert was soft serve vanilla, peach cobbler or bread pudding. Food quality was not very good but the locals seem to love it. The overall experience was fun for me though, as it reminded me of my childhood past. Quantity definitely wins over quality of food though so it’s a one and done for us.

We were told about Hartz by our amazing waitress at Bozo’s in Pascagoula and she was absolutely right. It’s a hidden gem. Delicious Catfish and slaw and the rolls are really delicious like the rolls I remember as a child. If you are in Ocean Springs doo yourself a favor and stop in. We are going to back today since we leave tomorrow. A few other must tries are the sweet tea , chicken liver and beets. Try it all they know how to cook with flavor!!!

Stopped in for a quick meal – this is a buffet styled eat-in restaurant and also the have to go (drive thru window). They do offer a decent amount of choices: Baked and fried chicken, fried livers and gizzards, fried fish, assortment of sides / vegetables, salad bar, and for desert it’s peach cobbler, bread pudding or ice cream. They do a good job of keeping the place clean, and the staff seem to be friendly.
2/23/26 stopped at this location again and staff was super friendly. They were putting fresh items when I walked in.

I usually eat here once a year or so because I forget how it really is. Starting off, they do not have catfish, they use a fish from Asia called Sway fish. The buffet could be ok, but nothing was served hot. Cool chicken and veggies. Sad that there was no southern flavor in the veggies. Everything taste like it is straighed from that big can. The chicken was the bright spot. but still not having good flavor. The one good thing I liked was that the tea was included in the $15 buffet price.

My first visit to Hartz. I have been coming to the Mississippi coast for 40 years and never knew about this place.
We both got the buffet and everything we tried was at least good. The chicken was cooked well, not greasy, oil kept at the proper temp, fish was not overly salty as it is at some other places. Rolls were to die for and the cobbler was real good as well.
The only issue was the place is too small!
But we loved it and I’m sure we will be back the next time we are in town.

Best homemade fried chicken buffet!! Little salad, soft rolls, grilled and fried chicken, crispy fried fish, different veggies, potato salad, pea salad… gravy deserves it’s own award! Many other options and old fashioned ice cream too for dessert. I’ve been coming here since I was little. One of my favorite places to eat. Go Hartz!

First time trying Hartz Chicken Buffet! I must admit, I was unsure about the restaurant just by reading their online menu on their website, but I was pleasantly surprised!! I’m glad I took the chance because I will definitely be back for more. Juicy, hot, and flavorful chicken. A wide selection of sides, and the rolls were savory and sweet! The prices were reasonable too for the quantity and quality of food that you’re getting. I’ll definitely be back for more!
