I had an outstanding meal at Hartford Steak Co. that deserves every bit of praise. I started with their fresh salad wedge—crisp, cold, and perfectly dressed—which set the tone for the rest of the evening.
The star of the show was the prime rib. It was so tender it could be cut with a fork, rich with flavor, and cooked exactly the way prime rib should be. Paired with a hot, fluffy baked potato, it made for a classic, comforting, and absolutely delicious entrée.
Service was excellent from start to finish. Attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being forced—just genuinely good hospitality.
If you’re anywhere near Vermillion and craving a great steakhouse experience, Hartford Steak House is absolutely worth the stop. I’ll be back!

This was our first time here for weekend prime rib. We have been pleased with a few beef tenderloin dinners during the week, over the last few years. The prime rib was pretty good. The prices have risen, like everywhere else. This is not a fancy place, but if you’re looking for a pretty good meal, at a fairly reasonable price, you won’t be disappointed. Steak size is about your only option, which all come with a baked potato(toppings are extra), and wedge salad (ranch or French), and a slice of homemade bread. Bacon wrapped tenderloin during the week, and prime rib on Friday and Saturday.

Edit: we came back after a few years, as I was bragging to all of my coworkers about how good this place was. We came last Friday, and it was AWFUL! The dryest prime rib I’ve ever had. It was like cutting into an over cooked roast. $260 for 5 of us and none of us finished our meal. Just terrible. The second photo was a $40 cut of meat. Just sad.

The restaurant is pretty small compared to a lot of other establishments near by which can sometimes make a line form out the door depending on the night and what is going on in town; however, the longest I’ve had to wait is no longer than 25 minutes.
The Friday and Saturday menu is prime rib (you choose the size, there are plenty for all appetites), great bread, a baked potato with whichever toppings, and a wedge salad. Servers have always been very nice and food has always arrived quickly (usually when I’m still eating the salad, not a bad problem to have though).
If you’re in the mood for a good piece of meat, this is the spot.

The service was actually a bit lackluster. That wedge salad was very fresh otherwise very pedestrian. the steak was about what I would have expected in a truck stop, cooked properly but not exactly tender. Fortunately, the price and the value were fair enough for what was offered. I will point out that sweeping and mopping the dining room/bar area while the space is in use by customers, IMHO is obnoxious.

We went on a Friday night, so the only thing available was Prime Rib in various sizes, served with a lettuce wedge and a baked potato. Honestly, it was the most tender and juicy steak I’ve ever had. Perfectly medium rare. I intended to save half of my 12oz for lunch the next day, but it was so good I ate it all! We went for my birthday, and they brought me an ice cream with chocolate syrup and a candle, but they didn’t sing an annoyingly embarrassing song. It was perfect! Definitely 5 stars!

Chloe was an excellent waiter. She introduced herself which is huge in my book.
She was attentive. The food was just what we wanted. It was excellent. My only complaint is my potato peel was drier or more done than usual. But I was too full to eat the whole thing anyway.
