Was in Freeport looking for a good lobster roll saw this was nearby so we took the short drive over. Harraseeket is set right alongside the water at a marina. They have a good amount of parking but it does fill up. The views from the restaurant are amazing and they have both indoor seating and covered/uncovered outdoor seating. At the window to order the re was a sign that showed and approximate 1hr wait for food. Their time frame was very accurate. I ordered the Lobster roll and a pint of fried scallops. The lobster roll was filled with both tail and claw meat. I asked for some butter which made it even better. The scallops were served with cocktail and tartar sauce. Overall, it was worth the wait and I would 100% go again.

My recent stop at Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster Company in South Freeport, Maine, was a fantastic coastal dining experience that left me eager to return. The atmosphere is pure Maine magic—picnic tables by the harbor, salty air, and a lively yet laid-back vibe that’s perfect for soaking up the waterfront views. Whether you’re with family or friends, the setting feels like a warm embrace from the coast.

The staff were a highlight, greeting us with genuine warmth and keeping the service smooth and friendly. They made navigating the menu a breeze, and their enthusiasm added to the welcoming feel. The food was a standout: the whole belly clams were a generous portion, perfectly cooked with a crispy, golden exterior and tender, briny centers. The lobster roll was equally impressive, stuffed with fresh, succulent lobster meat, lightly dressed to let the seafood shine. The grilled cheese was gooey and satisfying, and the cheeseburger was juicy and well-seasoned. The only letdown was the fries—a bit sparse compared to the hearty mains—but they were still crispy and tasty.

Prices felt fair for the quality, with the clams and lobster roll offering great value for their size and freshness. However, $2.75 for a bottle of water felt outrageous, a small sting in an otherwise reasonable bill. Another minor gripe was the loudspeaker for order calls, which was a tad too loud, briefly disrupting the chill harbor ambiance.

Harraseaket Lunch and Lobster Company nails the seafood shack experience with its friendly staff, perfectly cooked dishes, and vibrant setting. Despite the pricey water and loud speaker, it’s a spot I’d recommend to anyone craving authentic Maine flavors by the sea.

Excellent lobster (couldn’t ask for fresher, as you can see by the photo of lady whisking them out of the water); very good clams; good prices. We arrived a little earlier than the crowd for lunch,so only waited about 20 minutes. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect location, looking out on the river as you munch on your perfect lunch!!

I’ve had lobster at all kinds of places—from full-service waterfront restaurants to simple dockside counters—and honestly, the full-service spots can absolutely be worth it for the atmosphere and the whole “night out” experience. This isn’t meant to knock those places at all.

But if your goal is to enjoy the lobster and seafood themselves—fresh, satisfying, and fairly priced, without paying extra for the full-service/luxury vibe—this place is hard to beat in the Portland/Freeport area. Some downtown restaurants can feel a bit “tourist-priced” (still good, but sometimes a little underwhelming for what you pay). That hasn’t been my experience here: the value feels honest, and the quality delivers.

It’s not just about lobster, either. The rest of the seafood menu is consistently strong. I’ve had the crab cakes, lobster bisque, and fried scallops, and everything was genuinely delicious.

It’s popular, so you might see a line, but in my experience it doesn’t turn into an endless wait. The waterfront setting is a bonus, too—casual, relaxed, and exactly what I want when I’m here.

Magical, quintessential Maine spot. Cozy, delicious and reasonably priced food, nice people (thank you to the staff member who ran my waterbottle out to me that I left behind!). So much fun to have a bite here.

A local told me to eat here and I am glad I listened! This is the quintessential New England eatery I wanted to experience when I left South Carolina. It was beautiful looking over the bay. I got a fresh, whole lobster, corn, and potatoes. They even taught me how to crack the lobster and eat it. It was a highlight of our vacation.

Harraseeket is a hidden gem in South Freeport harbor. Fantastic seafood at very reasonable prices. The view can’t be beat. Pick up your food and pick your seat. BYOB is permitted.

Came across this gem by accident driving with my husband on vacation. We decided to eat lunch here. So peaceful, Jeanette was so darn friendly and the food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We wanted to go back another day, but we were hours away. It would have been worth it! 20/5 stars!!!

We thought this place would be less crowded because it was off the beaten path. (No such luck). It was crazy crowded.
Counter service (not my favorite, and cash only (but they had an ATM). Limited seating (you just grab an empty spot when you see one).
The cashier was super pleasant and very helpful. We ordered two different Lobster Rolls (Mayo, buttered) and some clam chowder.
The Lobster rolls had plenty of meat but were pretty bland. (In hindsight I should have asked for some Old Bay or something.) The clam chowder was thick..but too thick. Almost like paste. But the portions were decent. We managed to grab a table on the upstairs deck but kept having to swat beas and bugs away. (They need some sort of bug repeller out there). But the view was great and the food was pretty good and the staff very nice.
