Harpers Asian Bistro in Hockessin is one of our favorite sushi spots in Delaware. The sushi is amazing and absolutely delicious, with beautiful presentation that really stands out. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the quality and how everything is served.
The bar is awesome with a great drink selection, and the service is always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere makes it a great place for a night out whether you are there just for sushi or drinks as well.
If you are looking for high quality sushi with great presentation, a solid bar, and excellent service, Harpers Asian Bistro is an easy recommendation.

Enjoyed the apps
My main dish was pan seared seafood
Kinda light on flavor and doesn’t look seared. To me this dish wasn’t worth the price, but def would def order the apps again.

We kept hearing about this place. We finally went. The atmosphere was gorgeous. I had a PlumTini and it was divine. Their ceviche is partially cooked and partially raw. I have had better other places. However, their rolls were delicious. The sashimi was tasty and what a presentation! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the service at 4 pm was great!

We’ve been to Harper’s three times so far and have really enjoyed the flavorful food and swanky atmosphere. I do recommend making a reservation as it’s a popular spot. Our favorites have included both the veggie and pork potstickers, the chicken curry, pad Thai, Mongolian beef and General Tso’s chicken. The beef and chicken are always remarkably tender, and dishes artfully seasoned. It’s a great date spot as it feels fancy, but also fun to dine with friends or family as the menu is so varied and they don’t rush you.

Overall this is a very nice restaurant. Great ambiance, very clean, menu has a nice selection of entrees and sushi rolls.
My husband and I shared edamame, scallion cakes and he had the wonton soup. The wontons seem hand made, they are super thin with lots of flavor. I had the avocado salad, the dressing was flavorful but they can so better than iceberg lettuce.
I also had the volcano roll, while it tasted fresh I felt like it had a heavy cream cheese flavor. My husband had the Szechuan beef, it was delicious, the beef was very tender and it was definitely the single best meal item.
He had the fuji mojito and I had the Manhattan. I was sorely disappointed in the Manhattan, it lacked flavor and was served with a lemon twist rather than a cherry garnish. By far the weirdest part of the meal was the plastic fish-tank like decoration on the plate. Definitely unnecessary.

I really want to give this new place five stars but the kitchen isn’t able to keep up quite yet. The decor is upscale, the staff is fantastic and the food is good. No liquor license yet so that makes the 90 minute wait for food less bearable. Hoping to return many times and edit this review to five stars. Well done Gary!

The location has gotten a much-needed facelift since the other restaurant moved out of the space. The menu is comprehensive, and has something for almost anyone. The service is up to par, but not always the most friendly. Statt is helpful and attentive, just not as warm and friendly as many other spots. The ambiance is excellent, and balances modern style with that Chinese food store charm many of us are used to. I highly recommend checking them out it you are local. The place can take small or large groups without an issue–but don’t be rude–make a reservation if you are bringing a large group.

First time dining here. Ordered the sushi/sashimi combination. Food was delicious. Service was spectacular and management made it a point to visit every table at least once. Their liquor license is due any day now. Will definitely come back here again.

I get sushi and my wife gets Chinese which is a nice option to have. The fish cuts are generous and they have a nice variety of quality fish. Way more than your typical shopping center sushi joint. For example, they always have sweet shrimp, uni, salmon belly, king salmon, red sea bream, stripe jack, and toro on the menu and available. You won’t find this at your standard sushi place and certainly not in Delaware. I personally don’t love their rice recipe, but it’s not a big deal. Definitely a go to for us.
