Highly recommended!! The best BBQ! It is our favorite BBQ restaurant and trust me, we have tried almost all the other BBQ restaurants. They have the best pulled pork, sausage, and brisket! Don’t forget the banana pudding either! Not only do they have delicious food, but the owner Tyler Harp and his staff are amazing! He checks on and visits with every table that comes in the door. Wonderful business owner!

Harp Barbecue is easily one of the top BBQ spots in Kansas City. I’ve been multiple times—both with friends and alone—and every visit has been outstanding. This isn’t your typical barbecue place with the same flavors you find everywhere else. Harp smokes their meats to perfection—tender, juicy, and so flavorful they melt in your mouth.
I’ve had the full slab of ribs, pork sausage sandwich, burnt ends, brisket, fries, and their incredible baked beans (I have no idea what’s in them, but they’re absolutely next level). Everything tastes fresh, homemade, and made with serious care. Their mac and cheese—made with large pasta shells—is also amazing. Creamy, rich, and the perfect side to go with any of the meats.
The vibe is laid back and feels like true home cooking, but the quality is elite. Prices are very fair for the portion sizes and quality you get. The food stands out in a city full of barbecue, and it’s consistently excellent every time.
If you’re anywhere near Overland Park and love BBQ, Harp Barbecue is a must-visit. Highly, highly recommend.
EDIT: I’m updating my review based on my most recent visit. In the past, every experience here was excellent, but this last time was a major letdown. I was served extremely dried-out sausage and the smallest portion of brisket I’ve ever received—hard to believe it came from the same place. For nearly $40, it was disappointing. My advice to the owner: make sure the right employees are in place, because the service and quality I received this time fell far below what I’ve experienced before.

Best BBQ I’ve had in a while! Pulled pork sandwich was spot on-flavorful and not a bit dry. The Chopped Brisket sandwich was by far the best I’ve ever had. Their sauce is not too sweet, seasoned to perfection. The fully loaded baked potato salad gets an honorable mention too. Feel like BBQ? This is your place!!

As my 2nd stop of the day Harp BBQ made me feel like I came in without having eaten a platter less than an hour ago. I walked in and I’m instantly hungry again. I was greeted by Tyler Harp himself as I’m contemplating what sides to get. I love a vinegar slaw as a nice way to cut the fat and I was sold on the cheesy corn. Which is apparently a KC standard. Who needs Mac and cheese when you got this. First off the brisket and the beef burnt ends were BEEFY! Such an overwhelming taste of beef. And a beautiful bark on both. Crunchy and peppery. This also goes for the ribs. Nice a peppery with a hint of sweetness. What blew me away the most was the sausage. It was a garlic pepper beef and pork mix sausage that hit me with the garlic flavor. I brushed my mouth and washed my hands since then (I ate with my hands it was so good) and the smell still lingers. Definitely my most favorite sausage of this trip. Oh and brisket of this trip. I had room for dessert after eating all this. I took a spoon full of the banana pudding and was surprised with the taste of ginger snap cookies instead of the usual Nila wafers. I enjoyed this so much. I feel that the ginger snap in the pudding made it a more refreshing bite after having eaten all that meat. Overall such an awesome meal showing that you don’t need to be in TX to have amazing TX style barbecue.

Absolutely the best turkey in the KC area. Burnt ends and ribs were also amazing. Potato salad was creamy, but not overly so. And the mac and cheese was kid approved. Tyler Harp came out to greet us and made sure we’re were happy with the BBQ and service. You can tell he really cares about his craft. We will be back!

Harp has some hard-working people, making some serious smoked meats. Everything we tried as far as meats was done very well. Don’t miss out on the pastrami burnt ends. Talo fries, beans, Mac, and potato salad are much better than the typical BBQ side. Staff is friendly and it’s clean. If you need some smoked meat, go ahead and give it a shot it can run with any of the big names in town.

Another great BBQ choice is always great to have. Clean facility and polite staff. I grabbed a slab and some fries, and the ribs were absolutely delicious. Seasoned well, juicy, pull off the bone style. The sauce isn’t my favorite but it certainly wasn’t bad by any means. Fries could have used a bit of seasoning as well but I have 0 complaints about the BBQ itself. Will definitely be back, worth checking out if you haven’t tried it.

Amazing BBQ! We tried everything and loved it all. The burnt ends were my favorite. That and the brisket were so tender you could cut it with a plastic fork. The tallow french fries were next level. The staff was also great. Very friendly and informative. Highly recommend!

Our favorite bbq in Kansas City! Worth the drive south every time. Honestly everything (from the meat to the sides) has something just a little extra special about it compared to the big name bbq places. You can tell that they care about the quality of meat, and the flavor profile of each item is thoughtful and spot on. And yes, you must get the brisket. 🙂
