I was in town as part of my quest to visit all 100 counties in NC, and I’m glad I stopped in for a snack and a quick chat.

My slice of carrot cake was good, and the birch beer was decent. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was cozy.

I had lunch plans, but I’d like to come back. And to see if the local poet and artist who had items for sale is there most days. As a fellow poet, I’d love to support the arts.

There isn’t a ton in downtown Warrenton, but there is some nice architecture to view and a few shops to check out.

Well done sandwich perfection all around. Service great, worst thing is the selection. I live an hour away and want to try literally EVERYTHING!
These people have a heart for their food and treated me wonderful.
This is the kind of place where you can, and ABSOLUTELY SHOULD, talk to the next table. I made friends, you may too!
Over absolutely beautifully crafted sandwiches

Hardware Cafe is a great addition to Warrenton! It has a unique, industrial vibe that’s both modern and unique. The staff was super friendly and attentive, even though they were busy. Lunch is our favorite meal to get here, and their menu specials change from week to week which makes each experience fresh and interesting! Because they are often so busy it would likely be a bit too loud to try and do computer work/paperwork in the space but it’s a great place to catch-up with friends or grab a quick bite while heading through town!
Overall, we highly recommend Hardware Cafe if you’re looking for a tasty and fun lunch time dining experience in Warrenton. We will definitely be back!

Neat place. Not sure how it has such good ratings. The food was absolute garbage. if you have any taste buds this isn’t it.

I fasted and was starving. I literally threw my entire plate away. That’s how bad it was!!!!!

Soggy bread, cheap pastrami that tasted like rubber, soggy beat up pickles and I thought I was getting fresh fried chips. They were bag potato chips. Saukerkraut and was barley there. Cheap plastic wrap tasting cheese.

Disappointing meal after I ordered the tuna and they didn’t have it.

The store itself is neat but seems like they don’t have proper ventilation and it was full of smoke.

Hard pass!

The Hardware Cafe is located in Downtown Warrenton. It is located in a 1907 building that was once a hardware store. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The restaurant has kept the theme of the hardware store and the decor and menu items reflect that. From the minute I walked inside, I just loved it there and every time I turned my head I saw something else. The wood countertops and shelves are from the original building.

I was immediately greeted when I walked inside and told that I could order at the register or take the menus to a table to decide. The breakfast menu is small but that was ok. I went with the biscuit and added egg, cheese and bacon. Then I got an iced tea too. The prices were very reasonable.

While I was eating, I looked over the chalkboard menu on the wall that had the lunch sandwich combinations. I was tempted to get the Pipe Wrench. But you can order a Ladder, a Hammer, a Rod & Wheel, a Lure among others.

Besides sandwiches, they offer hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, and desserts. Looks like another road trip is needed so I can order a sandwich.

The thing that stood out the most to me as an out of towner stopping by Hardware Cafe was the small town local vibes. Everyone greeting one another by name. The exceptional customer service. It creates a wonderfully tranquil and quaint environment. The food was pretty good. I wish the sandwiches were a little more loaded up with the meat but they probably serve the appropriate amount to keep the price points low. We found Hardware Cafe to be very affordable for our lunch. I would definitely recommend stopping by and enjoying good food in the presence of good people.

Not a great experience. Ordered and was told no hashbrowns, ok no biggie! Then after paid, told no sausage gravy, so ok make it a biscuit sandwich. They didnt even offer to adjust price. Think sandwich was cheaper. Then told no more biscuits, so had to switch to bread. Menu says breakfast available all day, and they couldn’t make it to 11am. Then sandwiches arrived with only the meat, no egg and cheese as requested, so sent back. Finally got our sandwiches. Food was fine, just not a great experience.

Great little sandwich shop. Staff was great loved the feel and look of the place was like stepping back in time. Ordered the Cowbell fresh Prime rib, horses radish, and Au jus on a fresh roll. Definitely recommend. Take time to look at the decor while waiting for your food you could probably see something you missed each time. I also had the special sausage sandwich which was also great.

While looking for breakfast stops via google maps on our travel, we came across this gem in Warrenton ,NC. We ordered the Prime Rib w/ Egg and Cheese on white toast and one on a Bagel. Everything was prepared to perfection & the bagel was so fresh. For my sweet tooth I picked up the chocolate chess pie and let me tell you — It was delicious 🙂 The atmosphere was welcoming & the staff are awesome.

It was the only Cafe around and alot of police officers were eating there, just be good and local right? I was a little disappointed at the prices. While the food was good, i felt like 8.99 for a grilled cheese sandwich was a bit much. The potato salad was a large serving and the best I’ve ever had!!
