On Thanksgiving morning at the Hardee’s in Lugoff, South Carolina, my wife and I stopped in during the last stretch of a 17-hour drive. We were told at the drive-through speaker that they were serving breakfast only. No problem, I actually love Hardee’s breakfast and was looking forward to it. We ordered a combo and a sandwich, simple and easy.
But when we pulled up to the window, the experience took a sharp turn. The employee working the window loudly announced, not just once, but twice, “We’ve got families we need to get home to also on Thanksgiving,” loud enough for not just us, but probably the gas station across the road to hear.
Most people wouldn’t know this, but my family’s Thanksgiving looked very different this year. My younger sister passed away the day before. I wish more than anything that I had a family gathering to go to. So hearing that, delivered with attitude and zero professionalism, hit harder than she could’ve ever known.
I’ve worked many holidays myself — as a teenager, Hardee’s was actually my very first job. Later, as a veteran of the armed forces, I worked countless holidays and birthdays while deployed, so families back home could have a safe Thanksgiving. So I understand sacrifice, I understand service, and I understand showing up for your shift when the uniform is on.
What I don’t understand is talking to customers like they’re an inconvenience.
Then came the food, and this just added insult to injury. The sandwiches looked and tasted like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp all day. The biscuits were rock-hard and inedible. The photo speaks for itself.
If this is the standard Hardee’s is allowing now, then the brand I grew up loving has gone in the wrong direction. It’s honestly heartbreaking to say that after holding such fond memories of this place from my early years.
I’m not writing this to be cruel, I’m writing it because Hardee’s needs to know how far this location missed the mark. A little respect, a little professionalism, and food that’s actually fresh shouldn’t be too much to ask.
This experience was beyond disappointing, and unless something changes, this may be the last time I eat at a Hardee’s.

Went to Hardee’s for a charbroiled beef burger. Dined in, no crowd was basically empty. Service expectations high. Ordered the Swiss mushroom burger, added lettuce and tomato with fries. Husband ordered bacon cheeseburger, no cheese and no mayo; extra bacon. Presentation was nice. Order was wrong: they didn’t add lettuce and tomato to my burger; had cheese and mayo on Rich’s burger. I took his to the counter and asked for a remake with no cheese and no mayo. Took the lettuce and tomato off that and added to mine. Got the 2nd burger and guess what, still had cheese on it. Rich just scraped off what he could with a knife. It was disappointing, especially because we were just about their only dine in customers. They had a few drive-thru customers but another worker was servicing them. Probably won’t go back for a burger. Will just go for breakfast.

The chicken biscuit combo was delicious hot and fresh. The lady tone was not pleasant but I get why she was aggravated running front and drive thru.

Have stopped here before. Drive thru is very fast and efficient. I keep it in mind when I’m on the road that this good, quick place to eat have gone there at various different times, and even at lunch time proper the line moved fairly quickly. Food has always been correct and accurate. Traffic on 601 makes getting on and off of interstate 20 not real difficult.

20 minutes before closing and they were already counting down the drawers and cleaning. Refused to take my order. I sat in the drive through for at least 10 minutes. 5+ at the speaker and another 5+ at the window. The cashier saw me. Looked directly at me and refused to acknowledge me or come to the window. Money laid out on the counter from the registers. There were multiple cars in line. We all left.

Never had a bad experience here so far. Staff is friendly and well trained & staffed. Food is good, and the atmosphere is friendly, clean, and easy going. I’m usually visit during afternoons/evening.

The food was good like it should be, but the bathrooms didn’t have changing stations, even small ones, for either bathroom (even though they are within such close proximity of the interstate. Other than that, it was alright.

Stopped in for lunch on a road trip. Got a cheeseburger and some chicken tenders. Cheeseburger had a flame-grilled taste to it. Tenders were ok.

I really don’t see how this location is still in business. Usually over baked biscuits, burnt bacon and cold fries. Flies in the dining area and customer service isn’t much better than the food and environment.

Whoever was in the drive thru at 10am today with dirty braids, an ashy face, and an attitude – she should get another job. If you can’t at least look clean and presentable as I wait in line twenty minutes for cold food, at least have a pleasant attitude. She was rude at the order box and at the window. This why I don’t eat out much. Three large orders of cold hash browns and had to beg for jelly
