Reviews
The hygiene of the restaurant was extremely poor. The gents’ toilets had black mould on the windows, which is completely unacceptable, and even the glasses we were given had visible lip marks around the rim. It immediately killed any confidence in how clean anything else might be.
The food was the only saving grace of the visit and is honestly the only reason this isn’t a 1-star review. In addition to the food tasting good, we were completely shocked at the children’s portion sizes, especially compared with what was shown in the picture on their festive menu — the difference was huge and felt really misleading.
The one standout was Trudy, who genuinely made an effort to look after us. She helped us with the best deals on the menu and was the only person who seemed to care about customer service. Thank you, Trudy — you were the highlight of an otherwise poor visit.
Probably best to book in advance especially popular times, walk ins might have to wait a bit.
Really lovely efficient staff serving delicious food we were lucky enough to be served by Daniel K.
One peeve, smoking is right outside the front door, maybe because it was raining, not sure.
Oh dear……Well.where do I start!!!
It was a Wednesday esrly evening and the venue was quiet so we weren’t exactly talking 9pm Friday/Sat levels of busy rhat could impact the quality!!!
Now let me pre-fix by saying that when you have the likes of Wetherspoons charging £10-11 for a meal AND an alcoholic drink if your going to charge £18-20 for a burger or a chicken skewers its god to be decent!!!
Sadly this was not the case and what we got was no better than a ‘spoons’ at double the price + drinks!!!
What we had:
Double crunchy chicken wings: these were great to be fair but £8 for 4???? Come on!!!
Chicken Skewers: Came witha rock solid, Frisbee like bread (taht even the staff said have no idea why it it’s included) , handful of chips!, Greek salad (that was sent back as tasted very odd) and chicken skewer (1) that was both overcooked and also (worryingly) undercooked to the point of being inedible.
Surf and turf burger: chips were stone cold, coleslaw freezing old, and rhe burger greasy with also the prawns cooked to death, no sauce and presented as if the chef regrets his life choices. Sent back and another one was provided taht was much better!!
Also the Birra Morretti (if that’s what it really was) was flat!!!
What saved it was the amazing waitress!!!! Give this woman a pay rise. Attentive, helpful, on the ball and friendly!!! She clearly cares about her job and takes pride in it. If she hadn’t been id have just refused to pay.
Our experience was so rotten she knocked 40% off the food bill.and gave us a free dessert.
Unfortunately as stated earlier, if this had been £10 with a drink id get it , but you cant charge these prices and serve this!!
You only get one chance to make a first impression. We live near and eat out alot so was hoping this could be out middle ground between pub food and high end, but wont be back!!!
You’ve lowered your game guys!!!
Returned for lunch on Christmas Eve with the same group of guests. On a positive we were shown to a nearby table so that our access needs would not be unduly tested. The food however was a catalog of errors that I present here in no particular order, so that you can make an informed judgement on whether you want to subject yourself to the same. One plate (the salmon) was completely missed from the order, then came to the table suspiciously quickly thereafter. Overcooked to the point where parts of it were inedible. Rare steak came to the table cold and without the tomatoe accompaniment. The tomatoe when it did come was charred to a crisp and clearly from the same blowtorch wielding source as the Salmon. My burger should have left me on safer ground, but the lettuce within was limp, slimy, and a colour I have honestly never associated with leafy green anything before. Service was unattentive and unfriendly. Took so long to get noticed we ended up skipping our intended dessert, settling the bill and leaving. Who knows, if the main course was anything to go by maybe we were actually doing ourselves a favour here? To sum up I would suggest you take your hard earned money elsewhere if you are looking for anything above the very basic and frankly uncaring standard that appears to be on offer here.
Starter of crispy prawns not nice at all , the coating was vile, sad salad just for colour,
Starter cheesy garlic bread , super thick dense dough with cheese in the middle.
Both Starters were only a quarter eaten.
Main 1, Ribs were just ok , corn boiled to death so not nice at all.
Main 2 Gammon and chips, just ok.
Wouldn’t go back unfortunately.
Special shout‑outs to Jenny, Lorraine, Jordan and Kelly who always go above and beyond to make every visit enjoyable. Their energy, professionalism, and great sense of humour are a massive part of why I keep coming back. I hope they like my stories!
If you’re after a drink in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, this is the place to be. Highly recommended
