The best meal of the trip. We had the traditional fish soup, raw red prawn, mussels and a seafood pasta. All were prepared to perfection, love the seasoning and generous portion. Like many people we had travelled to this fishing village for the Sunday market. There are a huge number of seafood restaurants along the seafront and was difficult to choose where to eat. This restaurant looked a little classier than most and it had its tables on the other side of the road next to the sea which was nice. We were lucky to get a table as many after us were turned away.
The menu is seafood orientated and there were plenty of daily specials to choose from as well. We decided to share a prawn cocktail to start – really tasty and a good portion of prawns.
For mains I had the spaghetti nero Di sepia and my wife the crab risotto. Both were really tasty and with a good portion size. Only disappointment was that the crab was served as half crab in the shell which made it very difficult to eat even with the cutlery provided. Please chef pre-break the claws so the risotto doesn’t go cold whilst trying to get the meat out.
Despite this the food and service were excellent and glad we chose to eat here

Excellent place. The best meal we had in Malta by a long shot. The catch of the day (red snapper) was fantastic and the octopus was delicious and so well prepared. The soup was also 10/10.

Absolutely amazing experience! Great restaurant in Marsaxlokk was one of the best seafood meals I’ve had in Malta. Super fresh fish, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. We had a fantastic meal at Harbour by Johann! Located right on the waterfront in Marsaxlokk, the setting alone was magic and perfect to enjoy a bit of winter sun.
We had an absolutely stunning grilled red snapper with chips and salad which was cooked perfectly and definitely a highlight of our trip.
A special shout out is reserved for Bibec who’s service was impeccable and a real highlight for us. All just added to a wonderful meal and experience

What a fantastic evening at Harbour by Johann! Located right on the waterfront in Marsaxlokk, the setting alone is worth the visit — colourful fishing boats, a gentle sea-breeze, and the peaceful charm of Malta’s iconic harbour.
We followed the warm recommendation of our extremely friendly and upbeat waiter, Piback (Jack ), and ordered a beautifully grilled fish with sides. The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked and full of flavour — truly one of the best meals of our stay.
The service was outstanding — attentive without being over-bearing, friendly and very genuine. A special thank you to Piback for making our evening feel special.

The seafood was beyond amazing 10/10. The salmon melted in your mouth. Very busy on a Sunday though – best to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Restaurant is located at the end of the harbour but the walk is totally worth it. The arancini starter was AMAZING and the sea food linguine was perfectly cooked. The customer service was exceptional and warm. We will definitely come back. If you visit on Saturday be aware that because of the market you may get a slower service and tables may be all occupied.
