Way back in 2019 I went to Happy Veal for the first time and I have been back consistently ever since!
They have a very solid two meat one broth choice hotpot combo, plus plenty of a la carte options. You will have to be familiar with some Chinese names for vegetables and greens, but the staff is friendly and will help you out. Get Fuzhu tofu skin! All those little crannies hold broth so well.
Chef’s spicy is in fact spicy! I love it, but often get a half and half so other folks can tone down the broth to their level.
I swear I will try the rest of the menu someday! It always looks delicious when folks order it.

This is an interesting restaurant that offers hot pots and traditional stir fried Chinese dishes. We came here for the traditional spicy dishes it is known for. The dishes are fresh, tasty, and well cooked. Overall, we had a nice experience.

Delicious!! This restaurant has very authentic and yummy tasting Chinese hot pot, everything is so fresh and is of high quality. I was very impressed! I got Chinese hot pot in Toronto and this place was even better I really recommend the tomato based soup with pork belly meat, noodles, spam, and potatos. Price is great and atmosphere is cozy Will come again!

Reduced star down to 1 since this restaurant has no parking spot and provide no info for facilitate customer like me to park. And i got $115 ticket from their building on top of my 15% tip to their foods and service. Extremely bad experience. Will never come to pay any cent to this business.

I would give 3 stars for hotpot since i still cannot find the right dipping sauce. We had tried peanut sauce but it was too bland. However, because of their pan fried dumpling was so good. There a plenty of ground pork inside and it is only $10. So i have to add 1 more star for them. It seem that their a la carte menu will be much better to try. It looks so good by observing from the other dining table.

Came an hour before closing, the staff was very nice about it which I truly appreciate
The soup was mildly spicy, but there were a lot of peppers in it. A good amount of meat and other vegetables which was nice, especially for the price! I would have loved to see a bowl of rice or some noodles included with it though, as it is a bit weird to just get a pot of spicy soup with no extra sides. So the rice you need to pay for, but otherwise, excellent value for the price!
Parking is definitely not great, there is no parking lot at the restaurant and need to rely on street parking

We chose a type of soup that half normal and half medium spicy ️ (Not recommend as lots of chilly oil with garlic and still.. too much spicy). A kind of buffet hot pot as We can select the rest topping, by the kind of meat/seafood/ball/tofu/vegetables/noodles/sauces/ herbs… and even the starter food. The bigger group we are, the better deal we get as we can enjoy different foods with reasonable price.

Went for hot pot here, it took a while for everything to come out but it was very fresh! The server made sure to check in on us periodically and to add additional broth to the hot pot. Some veggies were not available but I understand that the availability might not be there

Great place to get hot pot in Halifax. Although the hot pot is not all you can eat, the price would be around the same for two people but might be lower overall for more people. Easy paper ordering system where you check boxes based on what you want. $30.99 for basic broth and two meats. Waitress was very attentive with the broth as well as refilling the waters.
